#1 Aleace Hall.  Daughter of Eric and Brandi Elms and James Hall.

#7 Aliceson Hunt.  Daughter of Jerry and Dana Hunt.

MORGANTOWN - The future is bright for the Butler County High School softball program. The Butler County junior varsity softball team has compiled a 9-1-2 record a dozen games into the 2021 season.

The Bears have notched wins over Edmonson County, Owensboro, Hopkins County Central, Todd County Central, McLean County, Grayson County, Bowling Green and Whitesville Trinity. A familiar opponent, Whitesville Trinity dealt Butler County its lone loss thus far in the 2021 season. The Bears have tied in games versus Meade County and Bowling Green.

Bears knock off Grayson County in six innings, 11-1

 LEITCHFIELD - Visiting Butler County knocked off Grayson County 11-1 in six innings in a 12th District softball game on Friday, April 30.

The Bears scored first and never trailed. After the opening inning ended with the two teams tied 1-1, Butler County erupted for five runs during its second at-bat. Butler County led 9-1 at the conclusion of the third inning. 

Aliceson Hunt earned the win in the circle for the Bears. Hunt allowed one run on eight hits and one walk while recording six strikeouts.

Bears lose to Central Hardin at South Warren

BOWLING GREEN - Butler County came up short on a neutral field as Central Hardin prevailed 7-5 at South Warren High School on Saturday, May 1. 

Reece Sherrard led Central Hardin to the victory on the mound. Sherrard allowed one hit and two runs over three innings, striking out three. 

Christian Pinson and Raymond Goodman helped to close out the game on the mound for the Bruins, pitching in relief.

The Butler County Youth Baseball Association (BCYBA) opened their spring 2021 season two weeks ago with games being played across Butler, Ohio, and Muhlenberg Counties.

Alan Cooper of Morgantown shattered the state record Monday when he landed a 42lb., 13 oz. drum while fishing at Dale Hollow Lake. According to Cooper, he, his brother and their 89-year-old father were using the Rainbow Guide Service to land some smallmouth bass.

Bears beat Whitesville Trinity for district win

WHITESVILLE - Winning on the road, Butler County beat homestanding Whitesville Trinity 9-3 in a 12th District baseball game on Monday, April 26. 

Butler County scored first and never trailed. The Bears led 6-0 before Whitesville Trinity plated its first run in the bottom half of the fifth inning. 

Butler County outhit Whitesville Trinity 11-5. 

Will Embry earned the win on the mound for the Bears. Embry surrendered one run on two hits over five innings, striking out six.
