Butler County beats Whitesville Trinity in 6 innings, 13-3

MORGANTOWN - Butler County is set to host 12th District rival Whitesville Trinity for an opener in the 2021 high school softball season on Monday, March 29.

OWENSBORO - Butler County faced a deficit at the conclusion of each quarter as Breckinridge County gradually separated itself and ultimately pulled away to win 67-42 in the opening round of the 3rd Region Girls' Basketball Tournament at the Owensboro Sportscenter on Wednesday, March 24.

WHITESVILLE - Butler County finished runner-up in the 12th District Boys' Basketball Tournament. Grayson County pulled away to beat rival Butler County 67-53 in the Whitesville Trinity High School-hosted 12th District Boys' Basketball Tournament title game on Friday, March 19. 

MOUNT CARMEL, Ill. - Butler County High School graduate Hannah Chaney is competing at the next level. Chaney is a 5-7 freshman catcher for the Wabash Valley College softball team. 

Currently, Chaney is batting .333 for her junior college softball squad. The former Butler County standout has appeared in 12 games in the 2021 junior college softball season. As a freshman, Chaney has collected 10 hits and four RBIs in 30 at-bats. 

Thriving defensively, Chaney's fielding percentage is 1.000. A native of Morgantown, Chaney has recorded 46 putouts. 

WHITESVILLE - Passing its first postseason test, Butler County beat tournament host Whitesville Trinity 56-47 in the 12th District Girls' Basketball Semifinals on Monday, March 15.

With the win, Butler County improved to 9-5 and advanced to the 12th District girls' basketball title game. 

Whitesville Trinity ended its season 4-14 with the loss. 

Jaelyn Taylor scored 16 points to lead Butler County to the win. Accompanying Taylor in double figures for Butler County, Taylor Leach netted 14 points. 

WHITESVILLE - Determined Butler County battled back from behind to edge rival Edmonson County 40-39 in the 12th District Boys'  Basketball Tournament Semifinals at Whitesville Trinity High School on Tuesday, March 16.

Hayden Hodge delivered a tip-in with 10 seconds remaining to lift Butler County to the victory. 

The win allowed Butler County to advance to the 12th District boys' basketball title game.

With the win, Butler County improved to 5-8.

Edmonson County ended its season 6-13 with the loss.  

The Butler County Middle School honored the 8th grade volleyball players on Monday night prior to their game with Hancock County. They also recognized last year's 8th graders since their since was cancelled due to Covid-19.

Oak Ridge Christian Academy hosted the Kentucky Christian Atheltic Association (KCAA) JV State Tournament this weekend.
