Prep Football: Bears pound Rebels 32-10

Butler County got back on the winning side of the ledger on Friday night with a 32-10 thrashing of visiting Todd County Central.  The Bears (4-3, 1-2) built on a 19-3 halftime lead en route to their first Class 2A, District 2 win of the season.

PICK SIX: BCHS Bears pound Logan County in football home opener

 

Fueled by six interceptions and a large home crowd, the Butler County High School Bears football team walloped visiting neighbor Logan County 47-0 on Friday night in Morgantown. Butler County took control of the game from the start and had racked up enough points in the third quarter to enact a running clock.

Clark plays in KY East-West All-Star game

Butler County High School Bears' softball third baseman Lynsie Clark was recently chosen to participate in the Kentucky East-West All Star games, which was played June 14-16 at Ballard High School in Louisville.  Clark was a member of the West Junior team, meaning she was one of 20 players (juniors) chosen according to position by coaches in regions 1-8.

Bears Baseball splits with W.C. Dragons

Friday evening was a big night for the BCHS baseball team as they traveled to Warren Central to play the Dragons in a varsity doubleheader.  The Bears pulled out victorious in the first game with a victory of 5-3, and were defeated by the dragons in second game 11-4.  The victory over Warren Central was the first time BCHS has beat the Dragons since 2005, and the first victory over a high school from Warren County since 2007.  The win brought BCHS up to 7 on the year, already matching the win total from 2012.

Bears Baseball falls 2-1 to McLean

The Butler County Bears Baseball team faced off against McLean County in their first game of the 2013 season on Saturday, March 9, in a varsity/JV doubleheader.  The contest marked the first time the two teams have matched up since 2009 where the Bears suffered a defeat of 10-0.  Butler County was looking for redemption on Saturday.

2013 Season Preview: BC Softball ready to hit the field

With no losses to graduation and several returning players on the roster, the 2013 edition of the Butler County Bears' softball team opened their season on Friday night.  BCHS varsity defeated Russellville 11-0  while the JV won 8-0. 

Butler County returns a veteran squad from a 2012 team that finished 22-17 and was runner-up in the 12th District Tournament.  The Bears are hoping to build on that success in 2013.

BCHS Baseball: 2013 Season Preview

 The Butler County Bears baseball team will be back in action for their 2013 campaign beginning against McLean County at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 9 at the Butler County Baseball Complex.  The 2013 season marks the second under head coach Kevin Winn.

Bears best McLean 66-59; Jenkins honored for 1,000 career points

Trevor Jenkins joins the 1,000 point club.

In a rematch of the All "A" semi-final game, the Butler County Bears eased past the visiting McLean County Cougars on Saturday night in Morgantown.  Butler County's margin of victory was essentially secured in the first half as the Bears outscored the Cougars 19-12 in the first quarter and 14-12 in the second.  The teams played almost even basketball in the second half - McLean won the third 15-12, while the Bears slipped by 21-20 in the fourth.

BCMS basketball, cheerleaders host recognition night

BCMS 8th grade cheerleaders and parents

Monday night, January 14, was 8th grade recognition for the Butler County Middle School boys' basketball team and cheerleaders.  Eight basketball players and fourteen cheerleaders, along with their parents, were honored in between the 7th and 8th grade game against Bowling Green Home School.

Baylee Anderson, son of David and Lynn Anderson.

Kyle Casey, son of Terry and Wanda Casey, and Christi Stewart.
