Butler County Bassmasters Release 2015 Schedule

Butler County Bassmasters is pleased to announce the 2015 tournament and events schedule. As usual, BCB will try to fish a good mix of rivers and different types of lakes to help our competitors become the best all-around anglers possible.  BCB takes prides in being a very versatile trail, fishing several different bodies of water, while promoting bass fishing, our environment, conservation and good competitive fellowship.  BCB has finished work on the 2015 Schedule and has put it up for everyone to see.

Bears, Lady Bears busy over the holidays

Plenty of strong opponents was what Santa Claus delivered for both the Butler County Bears and Lady Bears basketball teams during the month of December and over the holiday break.

Bears beat Hopkins and Todd, before falling to Daviess

Butler County's latest three-game set saw the Bears go 2-1 with wins over Hopkins County Central (76-70) and Todd County Central (85-76) before suffering a 88-61 defeat to Daviess County.  Through six games the Bears are 3-3 on the young season.

BCHS Basketball hosts annual camp

It was camp time at Butler County High School as Coach Calvin Dockery and the boys' basketball team held its annual skills camp.  About 30 campers in grades 4-8 took part last week (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.); on Monday and Tuesday of this week, approximately 20 campers in graders preschool through third grade took part (9 a.m. to 11 a.m.) - combining for over 50 participants during the four-day camp.

Bears Softball nears halfway point with 10-6-1 record; JV team is undefeated at 8-0

With the first half of the 2014 softball season nearly over, the Butler County Bears' softball team has notched ten wins against six losses and one tie (tournament play).  With a season cap of 36 varsity games, the Bears have 19 games remaining before the post-season.  

In their last outing on April 26, the Bears came from behind to defeat visiting Apollo 4-3 in eight innings.  A home run blast to right-center by Lynsie Clark followed by basehits by Kassie Phelps and Amy Rogers set the stage for Hannah Peach's single up the middle for the walk-off win.

Bears wrap regular season with win over Frederick Fraize

Butler County got back on the winning track last night with a 82-65 win over Frederick Fraize High School (Cloverport).  It was Senior Night as the Bears recognized Drew Henderson, Zeke Woodcock, and Trevor Jenkins at their last regular season home game.  Butler County took control of the game early and never looked back en route to the big win.

Bears go 1-2 in Campbellsville Holiday Classic

Senior Zeke Woodcock drilled a three-pointer from mid-court at the buzzer to lift the Butler County Bears to a 61-58 win over host Campbellsville on Saturday, December 28.  The game was the Bears' third of the Campbellsville Holiday Classic.  Woodcock was named to the All Tournament team and Trevor Jenkins was named to the All-Academic team.

Prep Basketball: Bears beat AC-S; lose at Hancock

The Butler County boys' basketball team let one slip away on Friday night at Hancock County but rallied on Monday afternoon in Morgantown to defeat Allen County-Scottsville on a last-second basket by freshman Blake Graham.  The Bears fell 71-63 to Hancock at Lewisport but  were able to squeeze out a 61-59 win over the Patriots.  Butler County was without the services of Zack Burden, who was suspended by KHSAA for two games following last week's game at Ohio County.

MS Basketball: BCMS boys' defeat Edmonson

On the heels of round two of expected inclement weather, the BCMS Bears were only able to get in one of their three scheduled games last week.  Spurred by a victory the week before, the Bears were anxious to get on the floor again and keep their winning streak alive.  They did just that on Monday night when the Edmonson County Wildcats came to town.  The Bears had traveled earlier in the season to Edmonson county to split with the Wildcats with the 7th grade picking up a win and the 8th grade losing by 9.  So was not to be the case on the Bears’ home floor.

BC Girls' Fall Softball League:Lunachicks win championship

The Butler County Girls' Softball Fall Season has wrapped up with the Lunachicks winning the championship 11-9 over the Pink Panthers.  The Pink Panthers gave them a run for their game and placed 2nd.  The Babes came in 3rd and the Hotstix finished in 4th place.
