Beech Tree News presents: "Bears Spotlight" Taylor Leach

Taylor is the starting guard and team co-captain for the 12th district championship Lady Bears basketball team. She is a senior at BCHS and the daughter of Todd and Tina Leach. The Leach family live in the Grancer community of Butler County.

Buter County Schools sent 150 archers to Louisville to compete in the State Tournament.

 Morgantown Elementary Archery Team in Bullseye, the team placed 13th out of 107 schools with a team score of 2975.  In 3D, the team placed 18th out of 42 schools with a team score of 1423.

BCHS Softball: Butler County claims district win over Grayson County

MORGANTOWN — Butler County pushed past Grayson County 17-13 in a 12th District game on Tuesday, March 26.

Following the win, Butler County improved to 1-5 overall and opened 1-0 in the 12th District. 

Butler County pitcher Miley Franzell earned the win in the circle. Franzell pitched a complete game and recorded one strikeout.

Hot Rods Announce Meet the Team Event in April

Meet your 2024 Hot Rods players, Practice open to the public Bowling Green, Kentucky – The Bowling Green Hot Rods are excited to announce their 2024 meet the team event on Wednesday, April 3. The event will take place after Wednesday’s practice, which is also open to the public.Fans can enter the ballpark when the gates open at 3:00 PM CT at Bowling Green Ballpark. Hot Rods practice will start at 4:00 PM CT and will be the first chance to see the 2024 Hot Rods before they take the field on opening day. The open practice is free and available to all fans in attendance.

Bears beat Bulldogs 5-1

MORGANTOWN — Butler County pulled away to beat visiting John Hardin 5-1 on Monday, March 18. 

The Bears scored first and never trailed. 

With the game tied 1-1, Buter County pushed across three runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning.

Garrett Phelps earned the win on the mound for the Bears. Phelps pitched six innings and recorded eight strikeouts.

Contributing on the mound for Butler County, Brayden Clark pitched one inning and struck out three.

Phelps contributes for Midway as freshman

MIDWAY — Freshman forward Jenna Phelps contributed for the Midway University women's basketball team during its 2023-24 season. Phelps is a Butler County High School graduate.
