Phelps surpasses 1,000 passing yards

MORGANTOWN — Butler County junior quarterback Garrett Phelps has surpassed 1,000 passing yards in the 2023 high school football season.


Through nine games, Phelps has completed 78 passes for 1,029 yards and five touchdowns. Phelps has completed at least one pass to 10 different receivers. 

Currently, Phelps is averaging 114.3 passing yards per game for the Bears.  

Gage Beasley leads the Bears in receiving. Beasley has hauled in 26 receptions for 499 yards and four touchdowns.


Reindeer Run 5K set for Dec. 2

MORGANTOWN — The Reindeer Run 5K is set for Saturday, Dec. 2.

The Butler County High School boys' cross country team will host the Reindeer Run 5K.

All proceeds from the Reindeer Run 5K will go to the Butler County High School boys' cross country team.

The Reindeer Run 5K will be held prior to the Morgantown Christmas Parade, starting behind Morgantown Elementary School.

The holiday race will finish at Butler County Middle School. 


BCHS Basketball hosts Meet the Team event

On Saturday, October 21, Butler County High School hosted a "Meet the Team" night to honor the Bears and Lady Bears basketball teams, a special event that brought together alumni, athletes, and fans for a night of celebration and recognition.


Cross Country: Butler County finishes fourth in Class 2A, Region 2 Meet

Bears qualify to compete at state event for third straight year 

BOWLING GREEN — Butler County finished fourth out of 12 boys' teams in the KHSAA Class 2A, Region 2 Cross Country Meet at Ephram White Park on Saturday, Oct. 21. 

The Bears finished behind third-place Allen County-Scottsville, runner-up John Hardin and champion Thomas Nelson. 

With the fourth-place finish, Butler County advanced to the KHSAA state cross country meet for the third straight year. 


BCMS Football falls to Muhlenberg in season finale

Butler County Middle football wrapped up its season on September 28. in Muhlenberg County.  Both the seventh and eighth grade teams went head-to-head with the Mustangs for the Green River Valley Conference championship.


Bears to host Glasgow for district matchup PINK OUT GAME

MORGANTOWN — Set to take the field for its first home game in nearly one month, Butler County will host Glasgow for a Class 3A, District 2 matchup on Friday, Oct. 20. 

Butler County will be looking to end a losing streak. The Bears have suffered seven straight losses. 

Butler County is 1-7 overall and 0-3 in Class 3A, District 2. The Bears beat Russellville in a season opener. However, Butler County has lost seven consecutive games to Webster County, Warren Central, Grayson County, Hart County, Franklin-Simpson, Bethlehem and Adair County. 


Butler County falls to Whitesville Trinity in district tournament

WHITESVILLE — Butler County couldn't battle back from behind as Whitesville Trinity won 3-0 in the semifinals of the 12th District Volleyball Tournament on Monday, Oct. 16. 

ORCA JV Volleyball Repeat State Champs

Oak Ridge Christian Academy’s JV volleyball team played in the Kentucky Christian Athletic Association State Tournament at Kentucky Wesleyan College.


BCHS basketball tickets on sale

MORGANTOWN — Tickets for the Butler County High School boys' and girls' basketball teams' 2023-24 seasons are on sale in the BCHS Front Office. 
The prices for the tickets are as follows: Season Pass - $50, Reserved Chairback - $60.
