BCHS Baseball kicks off 2022 season

The Butler County High School Baseball team kicked off their 2022 season on Monday, March 14, as they traveled to Greenwood High School.  The Bears struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time with the Gators, giving up nine runs while scoring two.  Jake McKee took the loss for Butler County, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out four.  Kolton Hudson led Butler County with two hits in three

Butler County Bass Fishing Team place in weekend tournament

BC Bass Fishing team members Clay Vincent and Blake Tomes, who placed 1st

Saturday March 19, the Butler County High School Bass Fishing Team competed in a tournament at Nolin Lake.  Despite weather conditions, several fish were weighed and anglers took the top 3 places.

Robbins take the helm as BCHS Softball head coach

A former Butler County Softball player, who played four years of college softball, has been named interim head softball coach for Butler County High School.  Amy (Rogers) Robbins, 26, was named to the position after Coach John Embry announced his retirement earlier this year after leading the program for 20 years.  Robbins is also a 7th grade math teacher at Butler County Middle School.

Hot Rods and Talk 104.1 FM and 930 AM agree to new two-year partnership

Bowling Green, Kentucky– The High-A East Champion Bowling Green Hot Rods, High-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, are excited to announce a new partnership with WDNS and WKCT to become the Official Flagship Station of the Bowling Green Hot Rods in 2022. Shawn Murnin, the voice of the Hot Rods since 2019, returns for his third season behind the microphone.

Four Bears average double figures in scoring

MORGANTOWN — Four Butler County players averaged double figures in scoring during the 2021-22 boys' high school basketball season.

Brody Hunt led the Bears in scoring, averaging a team-high 14 points per game. Hunt scored a team-best 378 points in 27 games.

Behind Hunt as the second-leading scoring for Butler County, Jagger Henderson averaged 12.5 points per game.

Ranking third in scoring for the Bears, Lawson Rice averaged 12 points per game.

Embry resigns after 20 years

Butler County Softball Coach John Embry has resigned after 20 years and 19 seasons (one season lost to Covid) at the helm.

Coach Embry coached 19 seasons and was elected into the Kentucky Prep Softball Hall of Fame in 2017.

Record: 382-255 (382 wins is 15th all time in the history of Fast Pitch Softball in the State of Kentucky)

Lady Bears fall in region tournament's opening round

OWENSBORO — Butler County was limited late as Breckinridge County battled back from behind to win 55-46 in the opening round of the 3rd Region Girls' Basketball Tournament at the Owensboro Sportscenter on Monday, Feb. 28.

The loss eliminated Butler County from the 3rd Region Girls' Basketball Tournament. Among the top hoops teams in the 3rd Region, Butler County exited the 2021-22 girls' high school basketball season 25-4.
