MORGANTOWN — Senior guard Ty Price poured in a game-high 47 points as Butler County beat visiting Muhlenberg County 91-66 in a non-district game on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Bears notch district win over Wildcats 

BROWNSVILLE — Butler County pulled away to defeat Edmonson County 94-63 in a 12th District boys' basketball game on Friday, Jan. 17.

With the win, Butler County improved to 7-8 overall and 2-0 in the 12th District. 

Thriving throughout the district game, Butler County owned a double-digit lead at the end of each period.

Bears drop game at Daviess County

OWENSBORO — Butler County suffered a setback as Daviess County prevailed 84-77 in a boys' high school basketball matchup between 3rd Region rivals on Tuesday, Jan. 14.

Following the loss, Butler County fell to 6-8. 

Daviess County carried a lead out of each quarter, edging the Bears 24-22 in the opening period.

The Panthers led 43-35 at halftime.

Extending its lead after the break, Daviess County exited the third quarter ahead 67-51.

Ty Price paced Butler County, scoring 26 points for the Bears.

Price leads state in three-point shooting

MORGANTOWN — Midway through the 2024-25 boys' high school basketball regular season, Butler County senior guard Ty Price leads the state in three-point shooting.

Price is shooting 35.4 percent from three-point range. Through 13 games, Price has connected on 62 of 175 three-point field goal attempts. Price is averaging 4.8 made three-point field goals per game. 

In addition to leading the state in three-point shooting, Price is among the top scorers and free throw shooters

        Layla Ogden, a South Warren High School junior, has verbally committed to play college softball at Western Kentucky University. She is entering her fifth year at the varsity level for SWHS and was called up during her seventh-grade year in the spring of 2021.

MORGANTOWN — Butler County turned in a strong performance but came up short as third-ranked Great Crossing won 78-71 on Friday night.

Lady Bears notch win over LaRue County

MORGANTOWN — Butler County pulled away to defeat LaRue County 48-32 in a non-district girls' high school basketball game on Saturday, Jan. 4.

With the win, Butler County improved to 7-4.

Butler County carried a lead out of each quarter, outscoring LaRue County 11-5 in the opening period.

The Lady Bears led 32-13 at halftime and remained in control after the break.

LOUISVILLE — Butler County knocked off ninth-ranked Ashland Blazer on Saturday, Dec. 21, winning 72-57 in the King of the Bluegrass.
