Lady Bears level Trigg County 50-19

MURRAY — Butler County pulled away to beat Trigg County 50-19 in the Murray Bank Lady Tiger Classic on Saturday, Dec. 28. 

Following the win, Butler County improved to 6-4.

Butler County started strong, outscoring Trigg County 12-1 in the opening quarter.

The Lady Bears led 19-9 at halftime and remained in control throughout the second half.

Maintaining an advantage after the break, Butler County led 34-12 at the end of the third period. 

Ava Wilson scored a game-high 12 points for the Lady Bears.

Accompanying Wilson in double figures for Butler County, Karrington Hunt and Ann Marie Skaggs netted 10 points apiece. 

Nine different players provided scoring for the Lady Bears. The additional scorers for Butler County were Bailey Moore (four points), Carley Cardwell (three points), Raleigh Skaggs (three points), Destin Wester (three points), Emmalin Mode (three points) and Jenna Tomes (two points).

Butler County is scheduled to host LaRue County for its next game at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4.

Butler County notches win over Smyrna (Tenn.)


ALBANY — Butler County pulled away to beat Smyrna (Tenn.) 64-46 in the Best of The Twin Lakes Holiday Classic at Clinton County on Saturday, Dec. 21. 

The Lady Bears controlled the game. Butler County owned various leads during the girls' high school basketball matchup. 

The Lady Bears shot 49.0 percent (25-of-51) from the field. Butler County made three of 10 three-point field goal attempts, shooting 30 percent from beyond the arc. 

The Lady Bears connected on 11 of 27 free throw attempts.

Ava Wilson scored 18 points for the Lady Bears.

Finishing directly behind Wilson in Butler County's scoring column, Ann Marie Skaggs and Carley Cardwell netted 17 points apiece.

Chipping in offensively, Bailey Moore (six points), Tinslea Belcher (five points) and Raleigh Skaggs (one point) were Butler County's additional scorers. 

Ann Marie Skaggs recorded a double-double for Butler County, claiming 11 rebounds. 

The Lady Bears exited the Best of The Twin Lakes Holiday Classic 4-3.
