Bears Win, Lady Bears Fall at Edmonson County
Bears notch district win over Wildcats
BROWNSVILLE — Butler County pulled away to defeat Edmonson County 94-63 in a 12th District boys' basketball game on Friday, Jan. 17.
With the win, Butler County improved to 7-8 overall and 2-0 in the 12th District.
Thriving throughout the district game, Butler County owned a double-digit lead at the end of each period.

Butler County set the tone early, outscoring Edmonson County 30-11 in the opening quarter.
The Bears led 56-31 at halftime and continued to dominate throughout the second half.
Butler County led 71-50 at the conclusion of the third period.
Four Butler County players reached double figures in the scoring column.

Ty Price scored a game-high 38 points for the Bears. Accompanying Price in double figures for Butler County, Justin Castlen scored 21 points, Briar Griffin netted 18 points and Trever Deweese posted 12 points.
Chipping in offensively for Butler County, Curtis Murphy contributed three points and Case Hooten added two points.

Lady Bears lose district game to Lady Cats

BROWNSVILLE — Butler County was limited offensively as Edmonson County pulled away to win 72-23 in a 12th District girls' basketball game on Friday, Jan. 17.
Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 7-5 overall and 1-1 in the 12th District.
Butler County faced a double-digit deficit at the conclusion of each quarter during the district game.
Edmonson County moved ahead early, outscoring Butler County 20-4 in the opening quarter.
The Lady Cats led 39-10 at halftime and remained in control throughout the second half.
Edmonson County led 56-18 at the end of the third quarter.
Ann Marie Skaggs (six points), Bailey Moore (six points), Carley Cardwell (four points), Ava Wilson (three points), Tinslea Belcher (two points) and Karrington Hunt (two points) accounted for Butler County's scoring in the district matchup.
