Bears push third-ranked Great Crossing in loss

MORGANTOWN — Butler County turned in a strong performance but came up short as third-ranked Great Crossing won 78-71 on Friday night. 
Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 6-7. 
 
The Bears started strong, edging Great Crossing 20-19 in the opening quarter.
But Great Crossing managed to lead 38-31 at halftime.
Great Crossing led 61-59 at the conclusion of the third quarter and finished strong to claim the win. 
Ty Price poured in 31 points for the Bears. Price led a trio of Butler County scorers in double figures.
Accompanying Price in double figures for Butler County, Briar Griffin scored 18 points and Justin Castlen netted 12 points.
Chipping in offensively for the Bears, Trever Deweese contributed six points and Case Hooten added four points. 
Butler County is scheduled to host the Bluegrass Blazers for its next game at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
