2nd Annual Green River Catfish Festival Open Bass Tournament

Butler County Bassmasters and Dr. Ryan Jackson of Jackson Chiropractic will be hosting the 2nd Annual Green River Catfish Festival Open Bass Tournament on June 25th.  The tournament will take place at the Morgantown boat ramp on Green River.

Kentucky Afield Outdoors: Three Good Stream Floats for Smallmouth Bass

FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 16, 2016) – Fishing for many species slows in the daytime hours during the heat of summer, but smallmouth bass who inhabit Kentucky streams bite willingly even on the hottest days.
Kentuckians who enjoy canoeing or kayaking are lucky to live in a state with bountiful amounts of cool, flowing water that hold smallmouth bass. It is hard to beat a summer day spent paddling a tree canopied Kentucky stream, navigating stream drops and catching smallmouth after smallmouth.

Jakes Day 2016

A total of 80 young anglers took part in the 18th Annual Butler County Longbeard's Jakes event Saturday morning on the Haynes Family property in the Leonard Oak community of  Butler County.

B.C. Softball plans summer camp; middle school tryouts

The coaching staff and players of the Butler County Bears’ softball team will be conducting a softball camp this summer for girls ages 5-12 from June 13-16, 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. daily.  The 15th Annual B.C.H.S. Softball Camp will be held at the B.C.H.S. Softball Complex off Gardner Lane in Morgantown.  The camp is designed to teach the fundamentals of fastpitch softball and to encourage them to play at the next level.  Eligibility is determined by a player's age at the time of the camp.

Bears Track and Field Compete in State Meet: Break School Record in 800M

The Butler County Track Team traveled to Lexington on May, 28th to compete in the Class A State Meet. BCHS had several entries this year including the Girls 4X800 Relay, Kierra Neighbors in the 100 hurdles, Boys 4X100 Relay, Hannah Perry in the 800M, and the Boys 4X400 relay. “It is great to see so many Butler County athletes qualify for the State Meet. It is a great way to end a great season.” Described Coach Donaldson.

Butler County Bassmasters @ Barren River Lake

Danny Cardwell and Chris Phelps took home 1st place with 13.48 lbs.

Butler County Bassmasters held their fourth team trail points tournament for the 2016 season at Barren River Lake on Saturday May 28th. This tournament was moved from it’s scheduled location at the Rochester ramp on Green River due to high water.  The weather at the lake was great with plenty of fish being caught before the increased boat traffic due to Memorial Day weekend shut the fish down. The fish are starting to move into their summer pattern.  They are beginning to make a move toward the deep water areas and should begin to school up in the next couple of weeks.

Bears claim District 12 championship with victory over Trinity (Whitesville)

The Butler County High School Bears Baseball team defeated Trinity (Whitesville) 6-3 Friday at BCHS to claim the District 12 Tournament title.

The Butler County Bears Baseball team captured the 12th District Championship with a 6-3 victory against Trinity (Whitesville) Friday afternoon at BCHS. 

 It was the first district title for second-year head coach Ben Grey, and an unlikely feat considering the team’s lower seeding in the tournament.

Butler County Track and Field Compete in Region, Advance to State

Butler County will wrap up its season on May 28th as they travel to the State Meet in Lexington, KY.

On Saturday, May 14th the Butler County Track and Field team travelled to Muhlenberg County to compete in Class A Region action. Butler County is part of Region 2A with Caverna, Clinton County, Cumberland County, Frederick Fraize, Glasgow, Hancock County, McLean County, Metcalfe County, Monroe County, Owensboro Catholic, Russellville, Todd County, and Trinity.

BCHS Track and Field Seniors Honored

Butler County honored their seniors in Track and Field on Monday, May 16th. “It is the least we can do to give back for all their hard work and commitment over the years,” said Coach Donaldson.
