KY Afield Outdoors: The white bass runs are finally here

It is now the first of April. If you asked most Kentuckians what it feels like weather wise, they would say it is the first of March.
  The warm winds finally began to blow from the South earlier this week and brought the white bass upstream with them.
The spawning runs are finally here.

Youth Soccer Kick-Off- Moved to April 10th

Butler County Youth Soccer Kickoff will be April 10th at 5:30pm at the High School Soccer Field at Morgantown City Park.  The BCHS High School team will have a Blue and White scrimmage.  Youth soccer recognition will be done between games.  An alumni games will be the second game.

BCHS Tennis: Girls 7-1, Boys 7-1

Butler County Tennis Teams headed back to Owensboro this past week to play Owensboro High School on Monday, March 24th.  The girl’s team played a nine point match with the girls getting the win with seven of the nine points.  Most matches were won easily with our girls only allowing their opponents a game here and there.  Katona Dockery got a tough come from behind win  at the second seed after losing the first set 2-6 and winning the second set 6 -3.  She showed true determination and grit to get the win in a tie break 10 – 7.  The boy’s team also came away with a win at Owensboro.  They p

Bears go 3-1 at Marshall County Slugfest; drop game to Grayson

Error proved costly for Graves County as Butler County picked up a 5-3 win on Friday night in the first game of the Marshall County Slugfest. The Bears jumped on Graves County early on their way to a 5-3 win on Friday at Marshall County in seven innings, scoring three runs in the first inning.

Butler County staved off Graves County as Graves was unable to match Butler County down the stretch.

Leprechaun Run 2014

BCHS Tennis: Girls 5-1, Boys 5-1

Butler County’s Boys and Girls tennis teams both move to 5-1 on the season after completion of two weeks of play.  Last week’s schedule rounded out with a home match against Cloverport on Thursday  and an away match against Owensboro Catholic on Friday.  Both teams won quite easily against Cloverport with the boy’s team sweeping all matches.  On Friday, the Bears traveled to Moreland Park in Owensboro to face a powerhouse in Owensboro Catholic.  The boys played some hard and very close matches, but came up a little short.  Catholic pulled out the win 2-3.  Remmington Harpe played a tough si

Golf Booster Club Meeting

The BCHS Boys Golf Team is holding a Booster Club meeting on Wednesday March 26th at 5:30 in the BCHS Commons Area. Anyone with children who are interested in playing next season should try to attend. Student-athletes are never too young to play the game of golf; however, there may be limitations to how many players the coaching staff can take for the season. Anyone with questions can feel free to call Greg Moore at 270-791-1398.

BCHS Baseball Team 2-3

The Butler County Baseball team is 2-3 on the young season.  They have picked up wins over Hopkins County Central 3-1, and Whitesville Trinity 13-4.  The Bears fell to McLean County 1-11, Greenwood 0-16, and Breckinridge County 0-4.

The Bears will be in action on Friday evening as they host the Panthers of Russellville High School.  They will travel to Hopkins County Central on Saturday.

Bears' Softball opens season 2-0 with wins over Russellville & Owensboro

Butler County's offense proved too much for Rusellville on Monday night in 13-3 rout in Morgantown.  Russellville scored the first run of the game but the Bears roard back to capture the lead and take control of the game.  Eight runs in the first three innings allowed the Butler County to put the game away early.

BCHS Tennis: Boys 4-0, Girls 3-1

Butler County’s Tennis Team began play last week.  Both boy’s and girl’s teams started in dominating fashion.  The first week of the season ended with both teams being 2 – 0 with impressive wins over Ohio and Hart counties.  This week’s play has seen the team take to the road for their first away match at South Warren.  The boys once again dominated and took the win 4-1.  The girl’s had somewhat of a struggle and came up a little short.  Tuesday’s match was at home against Warren Central.  Both teams got it together once again and took total control, coming away with wins.
