Rogers signs to play college softball at Lindenwood University

Surrounded by family, friends, coaches, teammates and school administrators, Amy Rogers, a BCHS Softball standout catcher, signed her letter-of-intent on Friday, April 18, to play college softball at Lindenwood University-Belleville (LU-Belleville). The signing ceremony was held at the BCHS Athletic Fieldhouse.

"I want to thank God, my family and teammates for supporting me in achieving my goal of playing college softball," said Rogers.

Bears Offense Struggles

The Baseball Bears faced Owensboro Catholic on Tuesday night in the opening game of the All A Tournament.  The weather was cold and the Bears never got going, dropping the game to the Aces 18-0 in 4 innings.

BCHS Lady Bears Basketball Awards

Seniors Katie Graham, McZinzie Smith, and Lynsie Clark

The Butler County High School Lady Bears closed our their basketball season with the annual banquet at the high school Common's Area.  The Lady Bears finished the 2013-14 season with an overall record of 8-16.

The following awards were given:

Butler County Little League Opening Day

Hot Rods' mascot Axle threw out the first pitch.

Butler County Little League held their opening day on Saturday, April 12, at the Charles T. Black City Park.Bailey Hunt sung the National Anthem during the opening ceremonies.

There are Jr. Rookie, Rookie, Minor League, and Major League teams, 14 in all, with 166 players ranging in age from 4-12.

Bears Baseball 8-9

The Bears Baseball team has started off the 2014 season with an 8-9 record through its first 17 games.  The Bears have had some impressive wins over Owensboro, Russellville and Warren East as well as a district record of 2-1 which includes two key wins over Whitesville Trinity.  The team has battled through key injuries to Senior Clark Parker and Freshman Ty Burden and have rallied together to play some really competitive and winning baseball.

Media day this past Tuesday at the Bowling Green Hot Rods Stadium showed us a new Roster, new owners, new food service an almost all new front office staff and a new attitude of excitement.

KY Afield Outdoors: The white bass runs are finally here

It is now the first of April. If you asked most Kentuckians what it feels like weather wise, they would say it is the first of March.
  The warm winds finally began to blow from the South earlier this week and brought the white bass upstream with them.
The spawning runs are finally here.

Youth Soccer Kick-Off- Moved to April 10th

Butler County Youth Soccer Kickoff will be April 10th at 5:30pm at the High School Soccer Field at Morgantown City Park.  The BCHS High School team will have a Blue and White scrimmage.  Youth soccer recognition will be done between games.  An alumni games will be the second game.

BCHS Tennis: Girls 7-1, Boys 7-1

Butler County Tennis Teams headed back to Owensboro this past week to play Owensboro High School on Monday, March 24th.  The girl’s team played a nine point match with the girls getting the win with seven of the nine points.  Most matches were won easily with our girls only allowing their opponents a game here and there.  Katona Dockery got a tough come from behind win  at the second seed after losing the first set 2-6 and winning the second set 6 -3.  She showed true determination and grit to get the win in a tie break 10 – 7.  The boy’s team also came away with a win at Owensboro.  They p
