Butler County Bassmasters Nolin Lake Tournament Results

Butler County Bassmasters held their third Points tournament for the 2016 season at Nolin Lake Saturday, May the 14th. The weather was pretty brutal, with dropping temperatures and high winds taking the larger fish out of the equation for the most part. The fish are on the tail end of the spawn, with fish being caught all throughout the water column.  There were 58 fish brought to the weigh scale for a total weight of 88.90 pounds for the tournament, with all fish being released alive back to Nolin Lake to be caught again.

“I think we still might be a week or so from the peak for redear fishing,” said Maj. Shane Carrier, assistant director of law enforcement for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. “The old timers say the timing is all about the full moon in May, but this year the full moon isn’t until May 21.
