BC Softball's Lynsie Clark signs with St. Catharine College

Butler County senior infielder (3B/SS) Lynsie Clark signed a letter-of-intent last week to play softball at St. Catharine College near Bardstown.  The signing ceremony, attended by teammates, coaches, family and friends, was held on Tuesday, May 6, at the BCHS Athletic Fieldhouse.  St. Catharine Head Coach Holly Smith was present at the signing.

Hampton and Dockery Head To State Tennis Tournament

Region Tournament kicked off this week at Moreland Park in Owensboro with first and second round action on Monday, May 5th.  Butler County took eleven players for a fun afternoon of tennis.  At the end of a long, nail-biting, exciting night the Bears came away with seven players; Brennan Grubb- boy’s singles, Matthew Embry and Dakota Merrick – boy’s doubles, Emily Wallace and Rachel Johnson – girl’s doubles, and Chanda Hampton and Katona Dockery – girl’s doubles; surviving the first two rounds of action and advancing to Tuesday night’s third and fourth rounds of play.

Bears go 1-2 This Week, 10-16 on the Season

The Bears traveled toGraysonCountyon Wednesday in hopes of knocking off one of the better teams in the region.  However, the defense faltered early and often.  The Cougars scored 6 runs in the first inning and 4 runs in the second inning on their way to a 10-0 win in 5 innings.  Of the 10 runs scored byGraysonCountyonly two of them were earned.   The Bears also struggled offensively with Eddie Phelps collecting the only Bear hit.  With the win,GraysonCountyclaimed the regular season district title and will be the #1 seed in the district tournament.  The Bears will be the #

The season on the calendar is Spring, but it was football season last Friday night at Butler County High School. Over a hundred fans, parents, and boosters gathered at the BCHS football field for the 2014 Blue/White Spring scrimmage.

Tennis Teams finish regular season, head to regional...

The Butler County Tennis Team just concluded another successful season of tennis Wednesday night at the city park with a match against Muhlenberg County.  Before the match began, the team’s three seniors were recognized.  The boy’s team had one senior this year, Dakota Merrick.  The girl’s team had two seniors, Chanda Hampton and Katona Dockery.  Rain and freezing temperatures forced several cancellations for the team this year, but both teams were able to finish the season with impressive winning records.

I want to take this opportunity to invite everyone out to the May 2nd BCHS Bears Football Team Spring Football Game.  This is going to be an interesting evening with several fun filled events.

Bears Pick up Big District Win, Finish Week 1-2

The Butler County Bears Baseball team went into the game Tuesday night on a 5 game losing streak.   This trip was the third straight year in which the Bears have had the opportunity to play at Bowling Green Ballpark, home of the Bowling Green Hot Rods.  The excitement was even greater knowing that this time, they were playing a huge district game against the Edmonson County Wildcats.
