BCHS Project Prom 5K Bear Run/Walk

The 2016 Butler County High School Project Prom 5K Bear Run/Walk will be held on April 16, 2016, Rain or Shine.  The race will begin at Butler County Middle School. 

Schedule of Events:

Morgantown Elementary Archery takes 2nd place at Lewisburg Elementary, wins 14 individual medals.

Morgantown Elementary Archery traveled to Logan County, Lewisburg Elementary, on Friday, February 26th, and won 2nd place as a team with a score of 2948.

Oak Ridge Warriors win KCAA First Region Tournament by knocking of the #1 ranked team in the KCAA while the Lady Warriors went Runner-up in the KCAA First Region Tournament.

Kentucky Afield Outdoors: New fishing regulations for 2016

Dave Dreves, assistant director of fisheries for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, holds a nearly 13-pound native walleye captured from the Rockcastle River during the initial stages of the native walleye restoration. A protective slot limit for native walleye on certain streams and lakes goes into effect March 1, one of several new fishing regulations for 2016.

FRANKFORT, Ky. – It is no longer getting dark at dinner time. We are beginning to have days cresting the 50 degree mark. It is enough to make you want to go fishing.
Before you cast a line, however, you need to know about the new fishing regulations that go into effect March 1.

Butler County Bears claim 12th District Basketball Championship with 53-49 win over Grayson County

Butler County Bears - 2016 12th District Champions

Despite two regular season losses to Grayson County, the Butler County Bears won when it counted the most with a 53-49 victory over the Cougars in the 12th District Championship game on Friday night in Leitchfield.

Bears beat top seed Edmonson in 12th District play; will play for championship on Friday

Butler County was the #4 seed and 0-6 in district play and Edmonson County was the #1 and 6-0 in district play but those numbers didn't matter Tuesday night as the Bears upset the Wildcats 77-68.  A trio of Bears led the way in scoring with Will Moore netting 20 points, a strong 18 points by Brennan Grubb, and 17 points from Rex Henderson.  With the district win, the Bears punch their ticket to the Third Region Tournament and a chance for a 12th District title against Grayson County on Friday night.  The Cougars edged Trinity 57-40 to advance to the district championship.

Morgantown Elementary Archery Wins First Place at Muhlenberg North Middle School

Morgantown Elementary attended the Muhlenberg North Middle Shootout Archery Tournament on Friday, February 19th.  There was a total of 10 elementary school teams competing in this tournament along with numerous middle and high schools.  MES Archery Team took the first place elementary division with a score of 2920.

Belmont girls' volleyball takes second place at state tournament

Belmont Christian Academy girls volleyball came in 2nd at KCSAA Class 2A State Tournament in Lexington,
Kentucky last weekend.  On Friday Belmont defeated Bethel 2 sets to 1 and also Cumberland Homeschool Athletic Teams 2-1 to advance to the finals on Saturday.  In the finals against Cumberland Christian Home Educators (CCHE), Belmont won the first set 25-17, then lost a close second set 22-25.  In the third set Belmont was defeated 9-15. Hannah Vanmeter and Katherine Flener were named to the All-Tournament team.

ORCA to host region tournament

Oak Ridge Christian Academy will be hosting the KCAA First Region Tournament on Friday, February 26 and Saturday, February 27.  The Warriors will be coming into the tournament as #2 in the region playing against Heritage Christian from Hopkinsville.  Tip off will be at 6:15 Friday night.  The Lady Warriors will be a #3 in the tournament taking on Heritage Christian or Glasgow Christian (TBA) at 7:30 Friday night.  The winners will advance to the Championship games on Saturday starting at 2:00.  The winners will advance on to the KCAA Varsity State Tournament March 3-5 at Berea College.
