Loyd Mode Jr.

Loyd Mode Jr., age 74, of Morgantown, KY, passed away Wednesday, (September 28, 2011) in Morgantown. He was born on June 25, 1937, in Scottsburg, IN, the son of the late Loyd W and Grace Sullivan Mode Sr.

He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Wilson Home Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Stella Brooks Mode of Morgantown, four sons, Harold, Steve, Charles and Jerry, three daughters, Betty, Marg and Sue and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ruby Marie Keown, 94 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky. She was a Butler County native, daughter of the late Rado and Gustie Wilcox Clark

and wife of the late Chester Keown. She was a member of Cool Springs General Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Ruby Marie Keown is survived by 2 sisters, Lorene Johnson of Morgantown, KY, and Annie Mae Phelps of Morgantown, KY;  and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth Berdine Duke

Ruth Berdine Duke, 69, of Morgantown, KY, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. She was a Butler County native, daughter of the late Wesley and Ordry Embry Tomes, and wife of the late Jerlow Duke. She was a member of Christian Home Church of Christ and was a retired store clerk.   She was preceded in death by three sisters:  Frances Tomes, Phyllis Key and Dorothy Embry;  and one brother, Thorston Tomes.

Edna M. Foster

Edna M. Foster 72, of Morgantown died Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 5:53am at her residence. She was a McLean County native and the daughter of the late Hershel and Annie Sorrells Greathouse.

She was retired from the Butler County Clerk’s office where she served as deputy clerk.  She was preceded in death by one sister, four brothers, and step-grandson Alex Foster.

Janice Carol Tomes Whitaker, 66 of Gilstrap, Ky. passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at her residence.

She was a Muhlenberg County native, born October 24, 1944 daughter of the late Doff and Aileen Flener Tomes. Janice had a Masters Degree in Elementary Education and a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics. She was also a Member of the Central City Church of Christ. Preceded in death by one brother Jerry Tomes.

Edwin Givens

Edwin(Slim) Givens, 90 passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Greenview Hospital.  The Butler County native was the son of the late Charlie and Polly Hope Givens,

retired from the State Hwy. Department, Ashland oil Company where he was a gas truck driver. He was manager of Hillview Trailer Park in Bowling Green for around 50 years until his death.  He was a WWII Army Veteran having served as an ambulance driver during the war and he was in the CC Camp at Mammoth Cave, Kentucky.

Noatley Meredith, 92 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky. He was a Butler County native, son of the late Lewis and Margaret Penner Meredith.

Noatley attended Cool Springs General Baptist Church, U S Army Veteran and retired construction worker. He was preceded in death by one grandson Timmy Porter, 3 brothers Eliegh, Arthur, and Charles Meredith and 2 sisters Arzella Cohron and Novis Jones.
