Bears ranked 10th in Preseason Region 3 Poll

MORGANTOWN — Butler County is ranked 10th in The Cats' Pause Kentucky Basketball Yearbook Preseason Region 3 Boys' Basketball Poll.

The Bears are listed behind Breckinridge County (9), Daviess County (8), McLean County (7), Muhlenberg County (6), Whitesville Trinity (5), Hancock County (4), Ohio County (3), Owensboro Catholic (2) and top-ranked Owensboro (1). 

Following a loss to Grayson County in the semifinals of the 12th District Boys' Basketball Tournament, Butler County concluded the 2021-22 season 16-11.

Bears Football Playoffs Preview / Post Season KHSAA State Playoffs

The Butler Co. Bears are the #2 seed in Class 2A Region 1, District 2.  The Bears finished the season 2-2 in district play. The Bears got some help from the Todd Co. Rebels who defeated the Hancock Co. Hornets 16-14; and in doing so eliminated Hancock Co. from the playoff picture. 

Here is a look at the final district standings.

Class 2A  Region 1 District 2 

Owensboro Catholic 4-0  #1 seed

Butler Co.             2-2  #2 seed * Bears win the tie breaker by beating McLean Co. head to head

McLean Co.          2-2  #3 seed

Bears roll past Clinton County, 61-0

MORGANTOWN — Remaining in the win column, Butler County pulled away to beat visiting Clinton County 61-0 in a late-season non-district high school football game on Friday, Oct. 21. 

Butler County improved to 7-2 after notching the win.

Remaining winless, Clinton County dropped to 0-9 following the loss.

Butler County falls to Whitesville Trinity in district tournament

LEITCHFIELD — Butler County fell behind early and couldn't overcome its slow start as Whitesville Trinity pulled away to win 3-0 in the semifinals of the 12th District Volleyball Tournament at Grayson County High School on Monday, Oct. 17.

Butler County trap team finishes first in regional shoot

MORGANTOWN — The Butler County High School trap team finished first in the regional shoot on Thursday, Oct. 20. 

Butler County featured both the top overall male shooter and top female shooter in the regional shoot. 

Mason Johnson was the top male shooter.

Elivia Heard was the top female shooter. 

In September, Johnson earned All-American recognition.

MORGANTOWN — After topping Todd County Central in overtime on the road, Butler County is set to host Clinton County Friday, Oct. 21.

Oak Ridge Captures KCAA JV Volleyball State Title

The Oak Ridge Christian Academy Junior Varsity Volleyball team made history this weekend by capturing the Kentucky Christian Athletic Association JV State Champion title.

The team had an undefeated season and breezed through the state tournament. ORCA defeated Lexington Latin to capture the title.

HS VOLLEYBALL: Butler County falls to Foundation Christian Academy

BOWLING GREEN — Butler County came up short as Foundation Christian Academy held on to win 2-1 in a high school volleyball match on Thursday, Oct. 13.

Bears outlast Todd County Central in overtime, 27-21

ELKTON — Colton Dunnells reached the endzone on a one-yard touchdown and Layton Phelps provided a pass breakup on the defensive side to allow visiting Butler County to beat Todd County Central 27-21 in overtime in a Class 2A, District 2 game Friday, Oct. 14.

Following the win, Butler County improved to 6-2 overall and 2-2 in Class 2A, District 2.

Todd County Central dropped to 4-4 overall and 0-3 in Class 2A, District 2 after suffering the loss.

HS VOLLEYBALL: Lady Bears shut out Russellville, 2-0

RUSSELLVILLE — Remaining in the win column, Butler County shut out host Russellville 2-0 in a late-season high school volleyball match on Tuesday, Oct. 11.
