Bears suffer shutout loss to Hart County

MUNFORDVILLE — Butler County couldn't battle back from behind as Hart County pulled away to win 48-0 in a Class 3A, District 2 opener on Friday, Sept. 15.

Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 1-4 overall and opened 0-1 in Class 3A, District 2.

Hart County, one of the top teams in the state, moved to 5-0 overall and opened 1-0 in Class 3A, District 2 after posting the win. 

Through its first five games in the 2023 high school football season, Hart County has outscored opponents 190-69. 

The Bears battled early in the game, holding Hart County scoreless during the first quarter.

But Hart County reached the end zone three times during the second quarter to lead 20-0 at halftime.

Hart County rushed 19 times for 317 yards and four touchdowns in its shutout win over the Bears. 

Butler County has regular season games remaining versus Franklin-Simpson, Bethlehem, Adair County, Glasgow and Ohio County. 

 

The Bears will look to return to the win column at home versus Franklin-Simpson on Friday, Sept. 22, and it will be live on WLBQ.
