BCHS Softball honors Senior Bella Akers

The Butler County Bears' Softball team honored their lone senior on Monday night as they hosted McLean County.

Senior Bella Akers was escorted to the pitching mound by her mother Kimberley Akers. Bella plays outfield for the Lady Bears. Her best BCHS Softball memory is winning district tournaments, going to Cincinnati, and all the memories with her teammates and watching Carley Jones fall out of the on-deck circle.


Johnson K’s Nine, Hot Rods Walked Off

Nine Johnson strikeouts and a Simon homer aren’t enough as BG drops opener 

Brooklyn, New York – Seth Johnson struck out nine and the Bowling Green Hot Rods (12-4) led the entire game until the ninth inning, when a late rally gave the Brooklyn Cyclones (9-7) a 5-4 walkoff win. BG and Brooklyn will continue the series on Wednesday at 6:00 pm CDT.

Hickory, North Carolina – The Bowling Green Hot Rods (5-1) pitching staff racked up 12 strikeouts and Alexander Ovalles added three hits in an 8-4 win over the Hickory Crawdads (3-3) on Thursday night. The Hot Rods and Crawdads will play the fourth game of the series on Friday night with a 6:00 PM CT first pitch at L.P. Frans Stadium in Hickory, North Carolina.  


Hernandez Homers, Drives in Four in 14-7 Win

Hot Rods pound out 12 hits and walk 12 times in series-opening victory 

Hickory, North Carolina – Heriberto Hernandez homered and drove in four runs while Diego Infante had another three-hit game in the Bowling Green Hot Rods (4-0) 14-7 victory over the Hickory Crawdads (2-2) in the opening game of a six-game series on Tuesday night. The Hot Rods and Crawdads continue their series with a special 10:00 AM CT first pitch on Wednesday at L.P. Frans Stadium in Hickory, North Carolina.

2022 Hot Rods Roster Revealed

Opening day roster highlighted by nine 2021 returnees, five ranked prospects

Bowling Green, Kentucky– The reigning South Atlantic League Champion Bowling Green Hot Rods, in conjunction with the Tampa Bay Rays, are excited to announce a talent-packed roster for the 2022 season. Under returning manager Jeff Smith, the Hot Rods will feature five players ranked in’s top-30 Rays prospects along with a host of high performers in 2021.


BCHS Baseball kicks off 2022 season

The Butler County High School Baseball team kicked off their 2022 season on Monday, March 14, as they traveled to Greenwood High School.  The Bears struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time with the Gators, giving up nine runs while scoring two.  Jake McKee took the loss for Butler County, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out four.  Kolton Hudson led Butler County with two hits in three


Butler County Bass Fishing Team place in weekend tournament

BC Bass Fishing team members Clay Vincent and Blake Tomes, who placed 1st

Saturday March 19, the Butler County High School Bass Fishing Team competed in a tournament at Nolin Lake.  Despite weather conditions, several fish were weighed and anglers took the top 3 places.

Robbins take the helm as BCHS Softball head coach

A former Butler County Softball player, who played four years of college softball, has been named interim head softball coach for Butler County High School.  Amy (Rogers) Robbins, 26, was named to the position after Coach John Embry announced his retirement earlier this year after leading the program for 20 years.  Robbins is also a 7th grade math teacher at Butler County Middle School.
