11th District Girls' Soccer Tournament: Butler County fall to Meade County

LEITCHFIELD - Butler County faced a deficit early and couldn't battle back from behind as Meade County pulled away to win 15-0 in the semifinals of the 11th District Girls' Soccer Tournament at Grayson County High School on Monday, Oct. 4. 

The loss eliminated the Bears from the postseason.

Bears fall to Hancock County in overtime

MORGANTOWN - Butler County fell short as Hancock County scored in overtime to win 28-22 in a Class 2A, District 2 football game on Friday, Oct. 1.

 

As a result of the loss, Butler County dropped to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in Class 2A, District 2. 

Hancock County improved to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in Class 2A, District 2 after notching the win.

BCHS Football: Bears set to host Hancock County

MORGANTOWN - Ranked 10th in the state, Butler County is set to host Hancock County for a Class 2A, District 2 game on Friday, Oct. 1.

Butler County is 4-1 overall and 1-0 in Class 2A, District 2. Following a shutout loss to Russellville in its season opener, Butler County has reeled off four straight wins over Waggener, Breckinridge County, Grayson County and McLean County.

Five opponents combined to edge the Bears 110-108 in scoring during the first half of the 2021 high school football season.

BCHS Volleyball: Butler County blanks McLean County, 3-0

MORGANTOWN - Winning on its home court, Butler County blanked Region 3 rival McLean County 3-0 in a non-district high school volleyball match on Monday, Sept. 27.

 

Butler County and McLean County met for the first time in the 2021 high school volleyball season.

The Bears won 25-14, 25-10, 25-17 over McLean County.

Qsar sets franchise postseason home run record with third of the series

 

Bowling Green, Kentucky – Jordan Qsar hit his record-setting third home run of the postseason in the Bowling Green Hot Rods (2-2) thrilling 7-5 win over the Greensboro Grasshoppers (2-2) on Monday at Bowling Green Ballpark in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Hot Rods and Grasshoppers play game five Tuesday with a 6:35 PM CT first pitch.

Bears ranked 10th in state

LOUISVILLE - Butler County is ranked 10th in the latest Kentucky Associated Press Class 2A Poll.
The Bears compiled a 4-1 record during the first half of the 2021 high school football regular season.
 
Butler County is listed behind Caldwell County, Metcalfe County, Murray, Green County, Danville, Middlesboro, Mayfield, Beechwood and top-ranked Lexington Christian in the statewide poll.
West Carter, Owensboro Catholic, Hancock County, McLean County and Prestonsburg received votes for the 2A Poll, which was released on Monday, Sept. 27.

Bears outlast McLean County 22-20

CALHOUN - Claiming its fourth straight win in the 2021 high school football season, Butler County outlasted rival McLean County 22-20 in a Class 2A, District 2 game on the road Friday, Sept. 24. 

Butler County beat McLean County in its Class 2A, District 2 opener.

After notching the win, Butler County improved to 4-1 overall and opened 1-0 in Class 2A, District 2. 

McLean County dropped to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the district following the loss.

BCHS Boy's Soccer: Bears drop district match to Meade County

BRANDENBURG - Butler County was limited as Meade County pulled away to win 11-1 in an 11th District boys' soccer match on Saturday, Sept. 18. 

Eight different Meade County players scored in the district match.

Brycen Schmidt recorded a hat trick for Meade County, scoring three goals.

Bowling Green Completes Comeback in 10-8 Series Opening Win

Witherspoon and Edwards homer in first game of High-A East Championship

Greensboro, North Carolina – Grant Witherspoon and Evan Edwards powered the offense with home runs as the Bowling Green Hot Rods (1-0) beat the Greensboro Grasshoppers (0-1) in comeback fashion, 10-8 on Thursday at First National Bank Field in Greensboro, North Carolina. The two teams play the second game of a best-of-five championship series on Friday with a 12:05 PM CT first pitch.
