Butler County Girls' Soccer

This week the Butler County Girls soccer team faced to very physical and talented teams. On Tuesday they played Todd County Central High School. Going into the week the Lady Bears were on a short week due to Labor Day but that didn’t squelch their enthusiasm and determination to play hard and try for their first win of the season.

The game started out very slow in a defensive stalemate but soon would be broken open by the Lady Rebels striking first. At half the soccer game was very close and within striking distance of the Lady Bears.

Although the second half did not go as planned there were valuable lessons learned and the players came away from the game having gotten better in skill and as overall soccer players. The Junior Varsity gamed followed. The J.V. started out strong and showed they could move the ball into scoring position right away. They had several shots on goal. The young players continued to show they too were up to the challenge laid out by Todd County. The Lady Bears fell short in the end but fought hard in a close match.

On Thursday night the Lady Bears faced Breckenridge County’s girls team. The Lady Bears were the most competitive they have been all season. At the half they were down by one goal and were eager to get back on the field to try their hand at their first win of the season. They passed well, they communicated, and they were tough. At the end of the game the Lady Bears came up short and lost the match to Breck.

The JV played immediately after and they came out on fire. They were passing well, shooting well and like in the Varsity game communicating great! The only category they fell short in was putting the ball in the goal. They are improving by leaps and bounds and will continue to get better daily. Next week the Lady Bears will travel to Meade County on Monday, play home on Tuesday against Warren East, and finish up the week at Todd County High for a rematch with a tough bunch of girls.
