New clinical director at Physical Therapy Solutions

John L. Collins, MPT, Clinical Director, Physical Therapy Solutions

From Pineville, Kentucky in Bell County, John Collins has crossed much of the state on the way to his  new position as clinical director at Physical Therapy Solutions in Morgantown.  Located at 110 Ashley Plaza Circle, Physical Therapy Solutions offers a wide range of outpatient therapy services and accepts most any insurance.

Barracudas Defeat Seadragons

On Thursday July 10th the Morgantown Butler County Swim Team hosted the Scottsville Seadragon in a dual meet at the Morgantown City Pool.

The meet was a very exciting meet with several close races some of which came down to 2/10 of a second.

8th Annual Catfish Festival Dog Show

The Green River Catfish Festival Dog Show had a wide variety of dogs this year, from the smallest to the very large. All the pet owners were showing off their fur babies with pride.

I officially do not have World Cup fever. The closest thing I have is a bit of soccer nausea.

With all the hype surrounding the World Cup and the United States team I tried to get interested. I didn't study or anything, but I followed the games, and even kept up with the standings that affected the US team. I was actually doing pretty well with dipping my toe in the soccer pond, and then I watched some games.

Rogers receives All-State honors

Amy Rogers and John Embry

Butler County Softball senior catcher Amy Rogers was recently selected Class 2A Second Team All-State for her softball accomplishments during the 2014 season. The announcement was made by the Kentucky Softball Coaches' Association last month and was voted on by softball coaches across the state.

Rogers' selection was the second for Butler County in the last several years.  Former BCHS pitcher CheyAnne Gaskey, now playing at Murray State, was a three-time selection - once Honorable Mention and twice on First Team.

MBCST wins second meet with 124 points.

The Barracudas host their annual Relay Meet on Tuesday with great success. In attendance at the meet were the Portland Stingrays and the Ohio County Otters. The meet started at 5:30 and the last race finished at 7:30 just before the storm hit.

Butler County Native Is 2014 Kentucky Trapshooting Hall of Fame Inductee

Trapshooting Hall of Fame inductee, Boyd Truelove

Provo native, Boyd Truelove is the 2014 inductee into the Kentucky Trapshooting Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place on July 4th as part of the annual Kentucky State Shoot at the Central Kentucky Gun Club near Berea. As part of the program, the Kentucky Hall of Fame Handicap will be named in honor of Truelove.

Johnson, Vaughn, and Thomas Top Runners in GR Road Race

The first event of the 34th Annual Green River Catfish Festival was the Green River 5 Mile Road Race from Morgantown to Woodbury on Saturday, June 21st.  This year there were 7 walkers and 67 runners. 

 

Nolan Johnson and Belle Thomas

Butler Countian Nolan Johnson was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 32:06.  Belle Thomas of Bowling Green was the first female to finish with a time of 33:15.

Morgantown-Butler County Swim Team Opens Season

On Tuesday, June 17th the Morgantown-Butler County Swim Team traveled to Bowling Green where they competed against the Southland Sharks and Portland Swim Team for the first meet of the season. The MBCST which has a total of 47 swimmers had 33 of them attend the meet. The swimmers of MBCST had a great time at the meet and swam very well.

MBCST was able to pull a victory against Portland but lost to the Southland Sharks.

New Coaches: Bivens and Bryant

When Butler County sports get back into action in the late summer there will be two new faces stalking the sidelines as head coaches. Brian Bivens has been hired as the new BCHS girls basketball coach, and JR Bryant will be the new head football coach at Butler County Middle School.
