Bears Roll 54-38 over Bombers

 The Butler Co. Bears won convincingly over the Ballard Memorial Bombers at home 54-38, in the first round of the Class 2A State playoffs.  The final score was really no indication of the game, as the Bears scored on their first five possessions in the first half taking a commanding 35-13 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Wildland Fires, Dry Conditions Create Hazards for Deer Hunters

Use camp stoves and lanterns instead of campfires, department urges
 
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 3, 2016) — More than 300,000 Kentucky hunters preparing for this weekend’s modern gun deer season opener should be aware there are at least 22 wildland fires burning, many in southeast Kentucky, as drought conditions persist across the state. About 14,000 acres have burned in the Commonwealth since Oct. 29.

Gov. Matt Bevin declared a statewide emergency last week and urged all citizens to refrain from outdoor burning and use extreme caution during outdoor activities.

K.H.S.A.A. Playoffs: Butler County vs. Ballard Memorial

The Butler County Bears, 7-3 overall and 3-1 in district play will host a first round K.H.S.A.A. State playoff game as the #2 seed and runner-up in Class 2A, District Two/Region One.  The opponent for the third year in a row will be the Ballard Memorial Bombers from far western Kentucky.

Paducah Field Meet

Butler County NJROTC traveled to Paducah High School for their annual field meet on September 25th.The students competed in different events including volleyball, a 1-mile relay, basketball shootout, a football toss, dodge ball, tug of war, tiny tug, ski board, and the 50-meter dash.   The other schools that attended were McLean County, Paducah, Ft. Campbell, and Muhlenberg County High School along with Butler County. Butler County fielded two teams for each event due to our high level of participation.

Kentucky Beast Softball team traveled to Chattanooga

The 2016 Kentucky Beast Softball team traveled to Chattanooga TN recently to compete in the ISA Fall Softball World Series.  There the girls competed against teams from all over.  After 2 full days of softball they walked away with the Title of 2016 Class A 8u ISA Fall World Series Champions, beating a tough Black Widows Team out of Auburn Georgia 13-7 in the final game.

BCHS Soccer team wraps season

The Butler County Lady Bears Soccer team finished their long and challenging season with a stinging loss to the Meade County girls' team in the first round of the district tournament. They fought hard and left everything on the Breckinridge County soccer field. To say they were disappointed would be an understatement. This year’s group of girls was made up of so many different personalities, attitudes, and skills, but in the end they all had one mind-set. TEAM.

BCHS Volleyball enters final stretch of season

For first-year head coach Ruthie Minton, this year's volleyball season has been a "building" year for her team but one that has shown steady improvement.  The team has a good mixture of players with four seniors, three juniors, three sophomores, and eight freshmen making up the 18-player roster.

Butler County High School Senior Night

Prior to the last regular season home football game Butler County High School honored the 20 seniors of three fall sports.  Congratulations to all the players, coaches, parents and families who have supported these programs and help make 2016 a great year!

Youth Hunt Weekend

The  first  special  youth deer season is on the second weekend of October. Youth  hunters  may  take  deer  with  fire-arms,  or  any  other  legal  method,  state-wide.  During  the  October youth-only  firearms season, the appropriate hunting license and deer permits are required for hunters ages 12-15. Youth hunters under age 12 are not required to have a hunting license or deer permit.
