Bears runner-up in 12th District; advance to Third Region Tournament

The Butler County Bears fell short on Friday night in their quest for another 12th District title.  The Bears lost 81-64 to Edmonson County.  Following a tight first quarter, the Wilcats opened up an 11-point lead at the half, 38-27.  That lead was extended to 13 points, 58-45 at the end of the third quarter and the Bears weren't able to close that gap.  Scoring leaders for Butler County were Will Moore with 23 points, Baylee Anderson with 19 points, and Caleb Beasley with 13 points.

Two Butler County basketball players have reached milestones in their respective playing careers.  Baylee Anderson and Chloe Flener, both senior basketball players at Butler County High School, recently reached the career 1,000 point mark in individual scoring.

2017 Basketball Seniors Honored

Butler County High School honored the Lady Bears and Bears basketball seniors as well has the senior cheerleaders. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, parents and families who have supported these programs.

Butler County Youth Soccer Association - Sign-up Deadline 2/28/17

We will be having soccer sign ups starting today and running through February 28, 2017. Just return the form to the school or mail it to 210 Cemetery St.  Morgantown, KY  42261 along with the fee. The fee is $45.00 and that will include the uniform shirt and award.  If the fee and form is not paid and returned by 2/28/17 then there will be a late registration fee of $15.00.  All fees are to be paid to Butler County Youth Soccer Association or BCYSA. The games will be played here in Butler County for the U4, U6, U8 and U10 age groups.

MES Patriots Win Regionals; NBE's Tomes Takes Top Spot

MES Patriots KY NASP 2017 Region 3 Champions

MES Patriots earned the title of KY NASP Region 3 2017 Elementary Champions on Saturday, February 11, 2017.  Archers from 21 schools gathered at Muhlenberg County High School West Campus over the weekend to fight for the Region 3 Elementary Division Championship.  MES Archers had a team score of 3047 and two archers earned individual awards.  North Butler Elementary 's Archery Cubs finished 6th overall.

MES Patriots Get Another Win

Morgantown Elementary Patriots Archery team brought home another win on February 4th when they traveled to Muhlenberg County High School East Campus for the Muhlenberg Mustang Roundup State Qualifiers.  They battled against 11 other teams to win first place with a team score of 3,112 and a total of 109 ten point shots.

Butler's Rex Henderson to walk on at W.K.U.

After a stellar high school career on the football field for Butler County High School, senior quarterback Rex Henderson has accepted a preferred walk-on offer from the Hilltoppers. As the national signing day for college football prospects approached on February 1, Henderson was still unsure about his future. Rex had received a scholarship offer from Morehead State entering his senior year and had received interest from Marshall University in West Virginia, even being invited to visit for camps and to tour the campus.

The rugged countryside of Butler County was filled with the sounds of baying hounds this past Saturday, January 28, as the Butler County Beagle Club hosted a one day field competition where young Beagles were judged in their ability to track down wild renegade rabbits at the United Beagle Gundog Federation’s running grounds in Jetson.

BCHS Football Hosts 2016 Awards Banquet

The BCHS Football Awards banquet was held, Thursday January 26th.  The Awards banquet was a night of recognition for the Bears Football team of 2016.  Head Coach Ryan Emmick was the master of ceremonies, and welcomed a crowd numbering one hundred plus of parents, family, friends, administration and the Quarterback Club.

The BCHS Football team finished 8-4 overall on the season.  The Bears went 7-3 regular season, and 1-1 in the post season play with a win over Ballard Memorial and then a season-ending loss to Mayfield.
