Bears advance to 12th District title game; Lady Bears fall short

The boys and girls 12th District Basketball Tournament got underway this week at Butler County High School. 

On Tuesday night in boys' action, the Butler County Bears handed Grayson County a 71-67 loss.  Rex Henderson led the Bears in scoring with 22 points; Will Moore had 20 points.  Baylee Anderson and Brennan Grubb were also in double figures - scoring 15 points and 11 points, respectively.  Caleb Beasley had two points and Blake Graham had one point. 

Also on Tuesday night, Edmonson County defeated Whitesville Trinity 64-51. 

Butler County and Edmonson County will play for a 12th District Boys Championship on Friday, February 24; tipoff is set for 7 p.m.  The Butler-Edmonson boys' game will be broadcast live on WLBQ with James White and Jack Clark. 

In Monday night girls' action, the Butler County Lady Bears fell 66-38 to Edmonson County.  Addison Hall led the Lady Bears in scoring with 12 points; Chloe Flener had 8 points and Karson Inscoe had 6 points, Allie Easley had 5 points, and Cheyenne White had 3 points.  Kasidy Graham and Maddie Cardwell had two points each.  The Lady Bears finished with a 12-17 record on the season. 

Also on Monday night, Grayson County easily defeated Whitesville Trinity 71-26. 

Grayson and Edmonson will play for a 12th District Girls Championship on Thursday, February 23; tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

Both championship games will be played at Butler County High School
