Bears Beat 'Cats; Lady Bears fall; Fans cheer

The final regular season district games for the BCHS basketball teams were Friday night in Morgantown. The Wildcats and Lady Cats from Edmonson County rode into town to face the Bears and Lady Bears from BCHS. The games would be the third meetings for the teams this season. (Please note: Half time scoring was given for the Lady Bears in video, final scoring was: West-14, White-6, Drake-5, Flener-4, Turner-4, Easley-2, Graham-1)


Jenkins, Woodcock featured in the Battles in the Bluegrass

Although the battle on the hardwood is over, the Butler County Bears and the Ohio County Eagles are still battling it out online. The recent Bears vs. Eagles basketball match-up was featured by Bluegrass Cellular as one of their Battles in the Bluegrass. The top four plays of the game were selected and are open to voting online. The four plays are the slam dunk by Ohio County Junior Jonathan Wortham, Butler County Sophomore Zeke Woodcock getting the rebound and scoring, OC Sophomore Trevor Lewis scoring under pressure, and BC Sophomore Trevor Jenkins nailing the long 3.


BCMS: 7th Grade Green River Valley Conference Champs!

 It was loud and electric in the Hancock County Middle School gym as Butler County's 7th grade team took the floor to take on the Muhlenberg North Stars in the GRVC Championship on Thursday, February 2nd.  These two teams had won a game a piece when playing each other in the regular season, and the Stars were the only team all season to beat the Bears 7th grade team.  The Bears, with the number one seed, had played earlier in the week, taking on Breckinridge County, a four seed, in the first round of GRVC action.  BCMS rolled past the Tigers of Breckinridge with a score of 53 to 10.  On Mon


Jenkins to play football at Lindsey Wilson

Butler County native Dean Jenkins has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career as a Blue Raider at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia. Jenkins, currently a senior at Edmonson County High School, played running back and defensive back for the Wildcats this season. The Wildcats finished the season 11-1 overall after a perfect 10-0 regular season. Jenkins is the son of Dwight and Allison Jenkins of Morgantown and Jimmy and Maria Duff of Brownsville. He is the grandson of Jut and the late Billie Mae Jenkins of Quality.


Lady Bears fall to Lady Patriots

The Lady Patriots of Allen County-Scottsville High School were in Morgantown on Tuesday night to take on the BCHS Lady Bears. The Patriots came into town with a 13-9 record for the first of two games with BCHS this season.


Bears, Lady Bears pick up district wins against Trinity

After some tough outings it was time for the Bears and Lady Bears of Butler County to get back to the business of winning Monday night. Their opponents were the Raiders and Lady Raiders of tiny Trinity High School in Whitesville.

BCMS Cheerleaders take 1st at Snowball Competition

The BCMS Cheerleaders were in competition again Saturday, January 21 at Bowling Green High School. The squad took first place in the Large Division beating Grayson Middle, Warren East Middle, and Monroe Middle School.

Head Cheer Coach Amy Smith-Thomas said, "My cheerleaders have practiced many hours and have put forth so much dedication this season. I owe so much to the support and help that my cheer parents and my administrators give these girls every day."


BCMS Boys Wrap Up Regular Season Play

 Lots of basketball......that is how you might describe the final week of regular season for the Butler County Middle School boys team.  They packed in three nights of basketball action this week before heading to the GRVC tournament on Saturday.  They started the week at home with a game against Bowling Green Homeschool on Monday night.  Both 7th and 8th grade teams had no trouble coming up with wins.  The Trailblazers gave it all they had but it just wasn't enough to handle this Bears team.  The 7th grade won with a score of 49 - 14.  Blake Graham was the high scorer in this game with 14


Lady Bears Fall to Ohio County

The Ohio County Lady Eagles rolled into Morgantown on Thursday night to take on the BCHS Lady Bears. The 11-9 Lady Eagles and Coach Ted Hill were hoping make it a sweep of BCHS teams by OCHS this week after Tuesday night’s Eagles win over the Bears 66-49.
