BASEBALL: Bears win 12th District title; fall to Breck in 3rd Region play

The Butler County Bears baseball team made it two in a row last week with another 12th District title with wins over Trinity and Grayson County.

Butler County rostered 10 athletes at The Class A State Meet in Lexington on Saturday, May 20th.  For the 2nd year in a row Coach Fuller, Coach Donaldson, and Coach Lindsey have prepared a large number of state competition.

Cory Mason signs Letter of Intent

On May 11, 2017, Oak Ridge Christian Academy’s Cory Mason signed his letter of intent to Kentucky Christian University to continue his basketball career.

BC Bears' Track & Field are State-Bound following Class A, Region 2 meet

On Saturday May 13th, the Bears travelled to Green County to compete in the Class A Region 2 meet. The Bears’ season has been a great one to this point with success on the track and in the field. The team’s two seniors, Hannah Perry and Dalton Lee, both entered the day with the possibility of this being the last meet of their high school careers, but refused to take that for an answer as both qualified for the State Meet on May 20th in Lexington.
“I think out of everything, I will miss track the most," said Perry.

Barren River Lake State Resort Park, along with Lake Barkley State Resort Park, offer excellent accommodations for a weekend of largemouth bass fishing on two of the best lakes for the species in Kentucky.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 11, 2017) – The months of May and June make for two of the best for catching largemouth bass. The weather is warm, but not too hot, and the largemouth bass feed heavily as warmer water temperatures increase their desire to eat.
Largemouth bass are one of the most popular sport fish in Kentucky. Two of Kentucky’s excellent state resort parks, Barren River Lake State Resort and Lake Barkley State Resort Park, lie on two of the best largemouth bass lakes in our state.

Big bluegill, like this one from Anderson County’s Beaver Lake, are shallow and spawning right now and biting willingly. Bluegill offer arguably the best way to introduce a child to fishing.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 4, 2017) – It is Kentucky Derby week, a fantastic time of year. Summer is around the corner and families start to go on summer vacations shortly.
Taking your kids to catch some hand-sized bluegill is another great aspect of this time of year in our state.
“A lot of your bigger male bluegill are moving up into the shallows,” said David Baker, Central Fisheries District biologist for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. “It is an excellent time to take kids out and get them excited and hooked on fishing.”

300th Win for Coach John Embry

With the win, Monday night, April 24, Butler County Head Softball Coach John Embry reached a milestone in his career - his 300th win. The win places him in the top 20 coaches in the state.
Coach Embry, who is in his 16th season, all at Butler County, began coaching in 2002.
