Anderson, Flener join 1,000 point club at BCHS

Chloe Flener and Coach Bivens

Two Butler County basketball players have reached milestones in their respective playing careers.  Baylee Anderson and Chloe Flener, both senior basketball players at Butler County High School, recently reached the career 1,000 point mark in individual scoring.

Flener hit the mark on Lady Bears' Senior Night, February 14, against Todd County Central.  Flener scored 26 points on the night and reached 1,000 points exactly on a three-pointer. The presentation was made on Monday night in the first round of the district tournament against Edmonson County.

Lady Bears' head coach Brian Bivens said he was made aware that Chloe only needed five points with about three minutes to go in the game.

"I left her in hoping that it would happen quickly but the girls grew too tired so I had to sub them out," said Bivens.  "With about 90 seconds left in the game, Coach Frazier looked at me and said 'Let her get it.' I grabbed Chloe’s hand and told her she needed five points to hit 1,000. I told her to post up and get a quick basket and then come down the next trip and hit a 3. Sure enough, that’s exactly how it worked out for her. I hope it’s something that she never forgets. I know I won’t. To have a senior hit the 1,000 point mark on her last shot, during her last regular season home game of her career - it’s almost as if it was written in Hollywood," added Bivens.

Baylee Anderson reached his 1,000-point mark on February 13 at home against Glasgow.

Bears' head coach Calvin Dockery praised Anderson for reaching this important milestone.

"Baylee is a tremendous young man. I am very proud of his accomplishment and he worked very hard over his four years to increase his skill level in all areas of the game," said Dockery.
