A former BCHS and BCMS football player has been hired to lead the middle school football program. Kory Johnson was officially hired last week as head football coach at Butler County Middle School. He replaces Elijah Flener.  

The 2018 Butler County High School Bears' football awards banquet was held Thursday, January 24th at the BCHS Commons Area. Players, parents, relatives, and friends were in attendance to honor the 2018 squad.  Head Coach Brandon Embry was the master of ceremonies and had a "thank you" list that ranged from boosters, parents, family and coaching staff for all the support.

 The High School basketball seasons are winding down with only three weeks of games left. 12th District basketball  tournament play begins Monday, Feb. 18th. Host school this year will be  Edmonson County High School for both the Boys/Girls tournament. Both winner & runner up will advance to the 3rd Region tournament.

The Third Region Boys/Girls Basketball tournament will begin the week of Monday, Feb. 25th. The Owensboro Sports Center. The Regional tournament Draw is scheduled for Sat. Feb. 23rd @ 9am @ the Sports Center Office.

The group picked up another school plaque for winning 1st Place with a score of 3270.

The Butler County Bears returned to the win column earlier in the week. The Bears notched back-to-back wins over Caverna and Cloverport Monday-Tuesday, winning a pair of matchups convincingly.

The Butler County Lady Bears split back-to-back games Monday-Tuesday. Apollo topped Butler County 68-21 on Monday. But the Lady Bears bounced back one day later, defeating host Cloverport 54-30 on Tuesday night.

           The 2018-19 season is off to a great start for the BCMS Bears with both the 7th and 8th grade teams positively progressing daily. Less than a month away from the GRVC tournament, which will start January 25th at Mclean County, the 7th grade Bears hold a record of 11-7 overall and 3-2 on their side of the GRVC.
