Bears beat Barren County, notch third straight win
 
GLASGOW - Butler County claimed its third straight win over the weekend, beating host Barren County 11-4 on Saturday.
With the win, Butler County improved to 3-1.
Barren County dropped to 1-3 with the loss.

SOFTBALL: Bears go 3-3 in busy opening week of season

Butler County falls to Male:  Butler County fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 10-0 loss to #1 Male on Saturday afternoon. The Bears struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Male, giving up ten runs.
A single by Hannah Chaney in the fourth inning and a spectular catch over the fence by Bayleigh Alford were positive notes for the Bears.
Kylee Smith toed the rubber for Butler County. She went four innings, allowing ten runs on nine hits, striking out one and walking one.
Chaney went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead the Bears in hits.

Neighbors Set to Enter Track Season at Brescia

OWENSBORO - Kierra Neighbors is set to enter the 2019 college outdoor track and field season with her Brescia University teammates. A Brescia University freshman, Neighbors is a Butler County High School graduate. 

Neighbors is a record-holder for the Butler County High School track and field program. She excelled throughout her high school track and field career.

Henderson Headed Into Spring Practice with Hilltoppers

BOWLING GREEN - Redshirt sophomore linebacker Rex Henderson is headed into spring practice with the Western Kentucky University football team. Henderson is a Butler County High School graduate. 

In December, Henderson was voted to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team. Henderson was a key contributor on special teams for the Hilltoppers, finishing the season with three solo tackles. In addition, his 11-yard rush and conversion on a fake punt at Ball State on Sept. 22 helped lead the Hilltoppers to a 28-20 victory over the Cardinals.

BCHS Swim Team Makes Regional Finals; Smith headed to State

Butler County High School swimmers had a great weekend. They were competing against 19 counties in the region, including Bowling Green and Owensboro, every team member qualified in preliminary to return for the finals either in a relay or individually. 
BCHS freshman swimmer Mattie Smith is KHSAA Region 2 Runner-Up in the 200 AND the 500 Freestyle races and named to the All-Regional Team.  She now advances on the KHSAA State Championship.

Bears drop four-point game to Franklin-Simpson

FRANKLIN - Butler County suffered its second straight loss on the road as host Franklin-Simpson held on to win 39-35 in a non-district boys' high school basketball game on Tuesday night. 

With the loss, Butler County dropped to 13-9.

Franklin-Simpson improved to 13-10 with the win.

Lady Bears Beat Cumberland County, Fall to Ohio County

MORGANTOWN - Butler County returned to the win column on Friday (Feb. 1), defeating visiting Cumberland 82-68 in a non-district girls' high school basketball game.

Then, following the victory over Cumberland County, Butler County dropped a close game to visiting Ohio County. A familiar 3rd Region rival, Ohio County beat the Lady Bears 68-63 on Monday night.

BCHS Swim team to compete in regionals this weekend

BCHS Swim Team

The Butler County High School Swim team will be competing in the KHSAA Region 2 Swim Meet on February 8th & 9th.  BCHS Swim team head coach is Brandie Smith. The boys' team consists of Bowen Kirby, Jake Camp, Dawson Deel, Conner Glass, and Parker Smith. The girls' team consists of Autumn Jenkins, Hanna Winchel, Lydia Wells, Mattilynn Smith, and Briley Webster.
