Butler County Jr. Pro Football Banquet Set For December 2

MORGANTOWN - Butler County Jr. Pro Football will host its annual banquet at the Good News Community Center Gym on Sunday, Dec. 2.

The Butler County Jr. Pro Football Banquet for K-2 will be held from 1-3 p.m.

The Butler County Jr. Pro Football Banquet for 3rd-6th will be held from 4-6 p.m.

The league will provide pizza, hot dogs, chili and drinks at the banquet. Butler County Jr. Pro Football asks that parents bring a desert to the postseason event.

Lady Bears Open Season at Hancock

MORGANTOWN - Butler County is set to open the 2018-19 girls' high school basketball season on the road at longtime rival Hancock County on Monday.

The Lady Bears will be looking to enact some revenge on the road in its 2018-19 season opener. Hancock County edged then-host Butler County 52-49 in a 2017-18 season opener one year ago. 

The Lady Bears ended the 2017-18 season 5-20. Edmonson County pulled away to beat Butler County in the 2018 12th District Girls' Basketball Tournament quarterfinals to end the Lady Bears' 2017-18 season.

Kentucky State Cross Country Meet Results

Congratulations to Autumn Jenkins and Parker Smith for their achievements at the Kentucky State Cross Country Meet in Lexington on Saturday, November 3.  Autumn, a junior at BCHS ran a 5k time of 23:04 and was 122 out of 236.  Parker, a 7th grader at BCMS ran a 18:45 5k time and was 90 out of 254.

Neighbors & Cardwell take top honors @ Butler County Bassmasters' Tournament

Butler County Bassmasters finished their 30th season with their annual Classic Championship tournament at Barren River Lake on Saturday October 27th.  The winter draw down has begun on the lake and fish are scattered from deep to shallow water but feeding up for winter.  That didn’t stop the guys from bringing some nice fish to the weigh scales. Ten boats qualified for the invitation only tournament which guaranteed the winners $1000.

The BCXC Team competed in Region 2A Competition on Saturday, October 27.  Congratulations to Junior Autumn Jenkins and 7th grader, Parker Smith for earning a spot to compete in the KHSAA Cross Country State Meet on November 3.

KTCCCA Meet of Champions

The Butler County Cross Country Elementary division team competed in the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association (KTCCCA) Meet of Champions on Saturday, October 20.  There were 449 runners in the 6th and under boys division and 410 runners in the 6th and under girls division.

Two-Headed Copperhead Snake on Display at Salato Center

Rare snake donated to center after discovery in Leslie County-FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 18, 2018) — A two-headed copperhead snake born in the wild less than one month ago is now in the care of the Salato Wildlife Education Center and will be available for limited public viewing at the facility in Frankfort.
A Leslie County couple donated the rare snake for educational purposes after discovering it in their yard this month.

Butler County Cross Country team competed at the SKY Conference Run

The Butler County Cross Country team competed at the SKY Conference Run on Thursday, October 11.

 Case Hooten, 6th grader won 5th place in the Boys Elementary 2000 Meter Run with a time of 7:54 and Marvin Brown, 6th grader earned 16th place with a time of 8:38.
