Roy Petett

Roy Marrs Petett age 70, of Horse Cave passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Caverna Memorial Hospital. He was born in Monroe County, near Tompkinsville,Ky. He has lived in Horse Cave for the past 38 years. He was a Western Ky State College graduate. He coached nearly all sports, but coached mainly football in Barren, Cumberland, Butler, Daviess, and Hart Counties. He was the first inductee into the Hart County Football Hall of Fame. He loved hunting, fishing, and gardening, and his family. He was a member of the Horse Cave Church of Christ.

Gova D. Bratcher

Gova D. Bratcher, 89, of Caneyville, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Grayson Manor Nursing Home in Leitchfield, KY.   

He was born on February 16, 1923 in Butler County, the son of the late Jimmie and Minnie (Sipes) Bratcher. He was a World War II Veteran where he received a Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal. Gova was a carpenter and a member of the American Legion Post 81 of Leitchfield.

Sally Foster Peay

Sally Foster Peay, 95 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December  28, 2012 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center in Morgantown. Sally was born May 8, 1917 in Butler County, Kentucky to the late Nathan and Eva Gill Foster and wife of the late Raymond Peay with 45 years of marriage. She was a member of Monticello Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by one daughter Faye Dean Peay

Patricia J. Stanley, 76 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012 at her residence. Patricia was born June 30, 1936, in Gary, Indiana, to the late John J. and Margaret Boyler Quinn. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her first husband Otha G. Snodgrass; son Daniel E. Snodgrass and grandson Joshua Q. Snodgrass.

Lindon C. Embry, 80 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012 at his residence. Lindon was born May 28, 1932 in Butler County, Kentucky to the late Wiley F. Embry and Nancy Crane Embry Brown. He was a member of Chapel Union Missionary Baptist Church, retired die setter for Cissell Manufacture for 28 years and United States Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers James Embry and Wiley Embry Jr. and 2 sisters Theo Embry and Betty Lou Embry.

Louise Cartwright, 88 of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab in Morgantown, Ky. Louise was born June 15, 1924 in Henderson, Kentucky to the late Frank Hicks and wife of the late Kenneth Ray Cartwright. Preceded in death by 2 sisters Sue Bass Hicks and Laure Hicks Stevens; one brother Joe Hicks and best friends George Hope and Ruby Hope.

Raymond Paul DeWeese

Raymond Paul DeWeese, 88 of Morgantown, Ky. went to his eternal reward on December 23, 2012 at his residence. Born and reared in Kankakee, Illinois, he was active in his Church and the Boy Scouts, earning the prestigious "Eagle Scout Award". He was a 4th Degree Member of the Knight of Columbus, a fraternal Order for Catholic Men. During World War II the local Florence (later Roper) Stove Company, manufacture of gas, oil stoves and oil heaters, was converted into a "Defense Plant". He was employed as a draftsman in their Engineering Department.

Eva Iris Smith Forsythe

Eva Iris Smith Forsythe age 91 of Morgantown Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Hospice House in Bowling Green Ky. Eva was born on August 13, 1921, to the late Girlie Lee and Dewey Mae Ingram Smith. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and gave many years of service as a teacher,leader of women, and youth. She served many years as the president of the Relief Society, the women's organization, both locally and in the Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia area. She lived a beautiful full life of creativity, love, and service.

Junior Arnold age 91, of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at his residence in Morgantown, Ky. Junior was born August 16, 1921, in Butler County, to the late Kent and Josephine Andrews Arnold. He attended the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was retired from the oil pumping industry. He was preceded in death by his wife Annie Mae Arnold, 2 sisters, Eula Givens and Teenie Brown and 3 brothers Albert, Lois, and Ellis Arnold.

John Curtis Childres

John Curtis Childres, 29, of Bowling Green, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012, in Nashville.

The Warren County native was the son of Timothy Walter Childres and Nancy Lynn Johnson Childres, who survive, of Morgantown. John was a loving son, brother, husband and father. He was a graduate of Butler County High School class of 2001 and a graduate of Bowling Green Tech as an automotive technician, class of 2003. John Curtis loved to fish, hunt and made a friend everywhere he went.
