Joyce L. Strasburger

Joyce L. Strasburger, 70 of Caneyville, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013, at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, Ky. Joyce was born January 8, 1943, in Grayson County, to the late Earl and Dorothy Minton Cockrell. She was a member of Chapel Union Baptist Church and attended Small's Grove Church and retired supervisor at Kanes. She preceded in death by her step mother Bessie Cockrell; husbands Otis Dockery and John Daniel Nix; granddaughter Rebecca Henderson; 2 brothers James Ray Cockrell Sr. and Clesle Woosley; sisters Tylene Taylor and Imogene Brown.

Christine Phelps

Christine Phelps, 65 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013, at the Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky. Christine was born June 3, 1947, in Butler County, to the late Julion and Maxine Phelps Lindsey. She was a member of Big Muddy Missionary Baptist Church and currently employed at BCHS Food Services. Memorial contributions may be made to Butler County Cancer Assistance P.O. Box 98 Aberdeen, Ky. 42201. She was preceded in death by one brother David Lindsey.

Charles R. Allen, 87 formerly of Drakesboro, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013, at the Christian Health Center in Bowling Green, Ky. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Morgantown, Ky. He was a World War II Veteran having served in the Army -Air Corp.
Charles was born May 30, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan to the late J.W. (Ted) and Susan Mercer Allen.

Ruth Hatcher Vanderveer passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013, at her residence in Lake Hamilton , Florida.  She was born May 11, 1926 to the late William (Bill) Hatcher and the late Arah Belcher Hatcher of South Hill, Kentucky.  She was preceded in death by her sister Margret Hatcher Hudnall and brother in-law Thomas H. Hudnall.

Motors and a member of Green Valley Church of Christ.

George Ed Cannon, 87  of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the Greenwood Nursing & Rehab Center in Bowling Green, Ky. Mr. Cannon was born September 23, 1925 in Butler County, Ky. to the late Vernie and Emma Cannon.  He was a sawmill worker.   He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Donnie Ammons Cannon, one brother  Harvey Cannon, three sisters Golda, Irene and Anthylene.

George Ed Cannon is survived by his wife Clora Cannon of Morgantown, son Bobby Cannon, daughter Joyce Cannon, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren

Leburn Johnson, 93 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at his residence. Leburn was born October 16,1919 in Butler County, Kentucky to the late George Washington  and Patty Ella Mulkie Johnson and husband of the late Nora Shephard Johnson. He attended Christian Home Church of Christ and was a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by one son Paul Johnson; 4 half brothers Colombus, Jimmy, Carlos and Clyd; 5 half sisters Annie, Aprie, Gladys, Belle and Alma.

Dean E. Brooks, 56, of Brocton, Illinois, passed away at 7:31 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013, at his residence. He was a retired truck driver and had previously worked road construction with labor hall #573 in Tuscola, Illinois.

He was born September 21, 1956, in Paris, Illinois, the son of Goldie (Johnson) Brooks and the late James W. Brooks.

Lura Luvina Elmore age 91 of Morgantown Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at her residence. Lura was born on November 19, 1921 in Warren County to the late James Oscar and Ima Lee Scruggs Johnson and wife of the late Leslie Raymond Elmore. She was a member of Cool Springs General Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by son-in-law Raymond "Buck" Miller, granddaughter Sabrina Forshee, grandson Jayden Michael Dean, brother Cecil Johhnson, and 3 sisters Mamie Ward, Josie Gray, and Martha Cherry.

David Coleman

William David Coleman, 85, of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.  Mr. Coleman was born November 22, 1927, in Butler Co. to the late Estill Coleman and Maudie Cardwell Coleman.  He was a member and Deacon of Cool Springs General Baptist Church and Cassia Lodge 272 and a Shriner. He was also a Korean War Veteran.  David was the co-owner of Coleman Brothers Motors which has been open for the past 60 years.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
