Melissa Lynn Johnson

Melissa Lynn Johnson, 49 of Bowling Green, Ky. passed away Friday February 6, 2015 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky. Melissa was born October 20, 1965 in Grayson County, Kentucky to the late Claude and Ora Burden Boone. She is preceded in death by one daughter Ashley Miller and one son Tracy Johnson.

Verline Hudson

Verlin Abbner Hudson, 93, passed away at the Regis Woods Nursing Home Facility in Louisville, Ky. on Friday, February 6, 2015.  Verlin was born in Butler Co. on July 31, 1921 to the late Harrison and Lovella Flener Abbner. Ms. Hudson is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy Lee Hudson and an infant daughter.  Verlin is survived by many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9th at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Butler Co.  Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Donnie Belle Keen Dye

Donnie Belle Keen Dye, 83, of  Louisville, Ky. passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the Crestview Nursing Home in Shelbyville, Ky.  Donnie was born October. 18, 1931  in Butler Co., Ky. to the late Russell A. and Cora Lee Hatcher Keen .  She was a  retired employee from Phillip Morris and a member of  Ninth & O Baptist Church in Louisville.  She enjoyed quilting and playing rook,  but most of all she was a loving and caring mother and grandmother .She preceded  in death by her parents, husband Maurice E. Dye and eight siblings.

William Ray "Bill" Woodcock

William Ray Woodcock, 74, of Kingman, Indiana, passed away February 1, 2015. Born January 2, 1941 in Morgantown, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Ira and Elizabeth (Emery) Woodcock.

On July 3, 1971, he married Faye R. Jackson in Indianapolis. He was a Committeeman for Ford Motor Company retiring in 2002. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel.

Carl Pharis

Carl Pharis, 99, of Welch’s Creek, passed away Monday, February 2nd, 2015 at his residence. 

He was born on November 27th, 1915 in Butler County, the son of the late Oda and Elberta (Taylor) Pharis. Carl was a member of the Chapel Union Missionary Baptist Church where he was a Deacon for over 40 years. He was a 50 year member of the Banock Masonic Lodge #824 in Dexterville, KY.

Denzel Embry

Denzel Embry, 91 of Roundhill, Kentucky passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at his daughter's residence in Morgantown, Ky. Denzel was born November 8, 1923 in Butler County Kentucky to the late Herschel and Ola Flener Embry and husband of the late Cecile Lindsey Embry. He was a member of Roundhill Church of Christ , a World War II Army Veteran, retired bus driver for many years for the Butler County School System and farmer. Other than his parents and wife he is preceded in death by one sister Elma Evans and one son in- law Wendell Embry.

Delmer Kasinger

Delmer Kasinger, 88 of Owensboro, KY passed away at 10:50 PM Sunday January 25, 2015 at Heartford House.
He was born in Butler County, KY on October 17, 1926 to the late Marshall and Mattie (Oller) Kasinger.
He was a retired sheet metal worker with Embry Sheet Metal in Owensboro and was a WWII Navy Veteran. Delmer was also a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Henderson, KY.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son; James Paul Kasinger, daughter; Tammy Royal, and his twin brother; Elmer Kasinger.

Dorothy May Byrns, age 85 of Plantation, FL, formerly of Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. She was a 1948 graduate of Morgantown High School.
She is survived by her three sons, Barry Byrns and wife Faye, David Byrns and Tim Byrns; two daughters, Fonda Furnish and husband David, and Sharon Byrns; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and her sister, Phoebe.

Kay Frances Chaney

Kay Frances Bryant Chaney 71, of Morgantown, Kentucky passed away at 3:14 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green.

The Warren County native was born on September 10, 1943 to the late James E. Bryant and Virginia Kinser Bryant, and was preceded in death by her son, Tommy David Chaney. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, she was retired from Nation City Bank after 27 ½ years. She enjoyed dancing in dance competitions with her husband. She enjoyed, sewing, cooking, and spending time watching T.V.
