Lois Willis Bryant

Lois Willis Bryant, 80, of Elizabethtown died Wednesday December 11, 2013 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Butler County, retried from Kmart and was a member of Valley Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed shopping, reading and spending time with her family; and cooking big meals for them. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. B. Bryant; son, David Allen Bryant; parents, Clay and Carrie Woodal Willis; brother, Jimmy Willis; and sister, JoAnn Wallace.

Gary Lynn Bates

Mr. Gary Lynn Bates, 55, of Union City, TN died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at his residence. Graveside services will be conducted Friday, December 13, 2013 at Sunset Cemetery in Dresden with burial to immediately follow. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 am until 10:45 am at Bowlin Funeral Home.

Mr. Bates was born February 19, 1958 in Greenfield, TN to Joe Ray and Martha Lynn Crocker Bates of Martin. He was the owner of The Keg Restaurant in Fulton, KY and Baptist by faith.

Joyce E. Kessinger Deweese

Joyce E. Kessinger Deweese, 82 of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the Bell Trace Health and Living Center in Bloomington, Indiana. Joyce was born August 2, 1931 in Butler County, Kentucky to the late Hershel and Edyth Dockery Kessinger. She was a member of Aberdeen Missionary Baptist Church and retired from Cook Pharmaceutical. She was preceded in death by one nephew Michael Kessinger.

Terry F. Shoemake

Terry F. Shoemake, 63, of Morgantown, Kentucky passed away at 11:42 a.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at his residence.

The Warren County native was born on May 6, 1950 to the late Carl and Lois Tines Shoemake and is survived by his wife: Sharon Cardwell Shoemake of 42 years. He was a Methodist by faith and worked at Camping World for 30 years.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel with burial in the Tuck Cemetery in Butler County. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

William Otho Abbott, 72 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at his residence. William Otho was born August 5, 1941 in Butler County, Kentucky to the late William O. and Golden Proctor Abbott. He was a member of New Midway Baptist Church and retired from Southern States Fertilizer in Russellville, Ky.

Diana D. Embry Bierly, 77 of Morgantown, Ky. passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at her daughters residence in Henryville, In. Ms. Bierly was born July 24, 1936 in Butler Co., Ky. to the late Eclat Embry and Frances Lacefield Embry.

Rita June Howard, 59 of South Louisville, Ky. was born May 4, 1954 to Glendon and Joyce Fleener Smith in Hartford, Ky. and returned to her Heavenly Father November 24, 2013. Ms. Howard was a member of Cove Baptist Church and a loving homemaker.  Along those who preceded her in death include her father.

Bonnie L. Porter Romans

Bonnie Louise Porter Romans, 86 of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Monday December 2, 2013 at her residence. Bonnie was born August 15, 1927 in Eden Kentucky to the late Clark Thomas and Mabel Johnson Porter and wife of the late George Warden Romans. In addition to being a farmer's wife with all those duties Bonnie worked for several years as a cook at the Butler County High School. She also served as a instructor at Butler County Day Care. She was above all a homemaker whether in her own home or one of many in the area.

Kathy Bratcher

Kathy  Earls Bratcher, 58 of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Monday, December 2, 2013 at her residence in Morgantown. Ms. Bratcher was born September 6, 1955 in Somerset, Ky.  to the late Tommie Earls and Vera Derossett Earls.  She managed a furniture store for a number of years, attended Grace Temple Church and loved to play and sing gospel music.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Regina Davis Hood

Regina Davis Hood, 86 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky. She passed away having had her family at her side, just as she enjoyed them in life. Regina was born September 11, 1927 in Drakesboro, Ky. to the late Carl Truman and Mabel Kimmell Davis and grew up in Louisville, Ky. before moving to Morgantown to start a Western Auto Associate store with her husband in 1949 (which continues today as True Value Hardware). Aside from helping at the hardware store, Regina was also a devoted homemaker.
