Dorothy "Dottie" Neighbors

Dorothy "Dottie" Neighbors, 68 of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky. Dottie was born November 10, 1945 in Walker County, GA to the late Orvil and Glaydis Proctor Kilgore. She was a member of Coronerstone Assembly of God Church. She preceded in death by first husband Neil F. Gentry; daughter Amosella "Amy" Embry; son Ben-Jakim "Ben" Gentry; great grandchildren Hunter Deweese, Lillian Woosley and Tanner Deweese and several brothers and sisters.

Mary Coots Alvey

Mary Coots Alvey, 85 of Cromwell, Ky. passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, Owensboro, Ky. Mrs. Alvey was born May 31, 1928 in Butler County, to the late Clyde and Loueva Hunt Coots.  She was a homemaker and attended Cromwell Methodist Church.  She was an avid quilter and Kentucky Wildcat fan and also enjoyed gardening.  She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Floyd Phelps and five brothers: Reveil, Oval, Belvin, Hubert and Dalton.

R.O. Basham

R.O. Basham, 95, of Roundhill, Ky. passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Edmonson County Health Care in Edmonson County, KY. R.O. was born November 18, 1918 in Butler County, KY to the late Lester and Elsie Raymer Basham and was husband of the late Dorothy Earlene Hays Basham. Mr. Basham served in the U.S. Army during World War II and when his tour of duty was completed he returned to the life he enjoyed, farming. He was the first in his community to use the no-till method of planting row crops, served on the Board of Directors of Farm Bureau for over 35 years.

Gary Thomas Childers

Gary Thomas Childers, 55, of Morgantown died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at his residence. The Bowling Green native was a son of the late Harold Childers and Virginia Alice Rakes Childers and was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara and two brothers, Ronnie and Michael. Mr. Childers was retired from the Warren County School System and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Carolyn Johnson

Ms. Carolyn Johnson, 60, of Bowling Green, KY died Monday, January 27, 2014 at Medical Center of Bowling Green. The Butler County High School graduate was a former employee of Warren County Regional Jail and member of General Baptist Church of Morgantown, KY. Carolyn enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, collecting Angel and Indian figurines; and watching her favorite soaps.

Julius Poko Lewis

Julius Poko Lewis, 87 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at his  residence. Mr. Lewis was born March 3, 1926  in Warren County, to the late Millard and Maude Glasscock Lewis.  He was a WWII Naval Veteran, was a  member of the Methodist faith. Poko was a retired Chief Inspector for Holley Carburetor, and loved farming and fishing.  He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.

James Ralph Forbes

James Ralph Forbes, 83 of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 at Morgantown Care and Rehab Center in Morgantown. Mr. Forbes was born November 8, 1930 in Butler County, to the late Lebron and Ollie Johnson Forbes.  He was a retired farmer and a  member of Carve Rock Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Mary Frances Forbes, Aleen Forbes and his brothers Lee, Findley, Wayne and Joe Forbes.

Helen Pearl Dossey

Helen Pearl Dossey, 89 of Brownsville, KY passed away Friday, January 24, 2014 in Brownsville, KY. She was a homemaker and a member of Beaver Dam Chapel United Baptist Church.

The Edmonson County native was the daughter of the late Willard Parsley and the late Clara Ann “Annie” Ray Parsley and the wife of the late Cecil Dossey.

Charles Henry Barlow

Charles Henry Barlow, age 73, of Cave City, KY, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow, KY. He was a retired farmer, former member of Beaver Dam Masonic Lodge, former city council member at Morgantown, KY, retired from R.R. Donnelley and a member of the Allen Seminary Baptist Church.

He was the son of the late John Shelby Barlow and the late Bessie Lou Hatchett Barlow.

Virginia Jeffers

Virginia Catherine Williams Jeffers, 67, of Roundhill, passed away January 18, 2014 at her residence with her family caring for her.  She was born October 1, 1946 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late John Cecil and Anna Louise Johnson Williams. She is the widow of Larry Jeffers, known as Crazy Larry to everyone. She was retired from Greenview Regional Hospital as a Clerk and a CNA due to her ilness. She was a lifetime member of the DAV Auxillary and a member of Hillvue Heights.
