Edna Mae Ashley

Edna Mae Ashley, 82 of Morgantown, Ky. formerly of Caneyville, Ky. passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Morgantown Care & Rehab. Edna was born March 1, 1933 in Grayson County Kentucky to the late Fred and Lillie Hayes Casey and wife of the late Rossie Dillard Ashley. She was of the Church of Christ faith and a seamstress at sewing factories for 25 years. Other than her parents and husband she is preceded in death by one sister Bonnie Wilson and three brothers Billy and Charles Casey and Damon Bratcher.

Sylvia Dean Ferrell

Sylvia Dean Ferrell, 86 of Louisville, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015. She was born June 8, 1928 in Gus, KY to the late Claude and Lorelle DeArmond McPherson. Sylvia was a longtime active member of Watterson Trail Church of Christ (former Bardstown Road Church of Christ) and taught Bible classes. She was also a talented seamstress.

James E. Embery

James E. Embery, 76 of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Monday, March 30, 2015 at his home. Visitation followed by a brief service will be from 4:00pm - 7:30pm Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Jones Funeral Chapel in Morgantown, Ky. He was born December 24, 1938 in Bloomington, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years Cathie McCauley Embery, his parents Robert and Estella Embry and three brothers Troy, Thurman and Harold.
He is survived by his sister Louise Wright, five children, twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Odis Ray Cardwell, 81 of Canmer KY, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Kindred Hospital.
He was a Baptist by faith and a native of Butler County KY.
Odis was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Charlene Cardwell; his children Odis Ray Cardwell, Jr. & Virginia Horton; along with a brother Ricky Cardwell.

Ronnie Childress

Ronnie Childress, 68, of  Roundhill, Ky., passed away Friday, March 20, 2015 at  his residence. He was born in Morgantown, Ky. on  Jan. 10, 1947 to the late Chester "Check" and Eurie Lindsey Childress.  Mr. Childress was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church and was retired from Louisville Gas and Electric where he worked as a service inspector. He was an Army Veteran who served in Korea.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Ida Alford Childress.

Bobby J. Brooks

Bobby J. Brooks age 59 of Morgantown Ky., passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015 in Morgantown, Ky. Bobby was born on April 28, 1955 in Butler County Ky., to the late Johnny W. "Buster" and Augusta Maine Adkins Brooks. He attended Cool Springs General Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran, a truck driver for many years, and loved fishing and watching the Kentucky Wildcats. Other than his parents he is also preceded in death by 1 sister Judy Brooks and 2 brothers Albert and David Brooks.

Violet White Godsey

Violet White Godsey, 83, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at   her  residence. She was born in Morgantown, Ky.,  September  26, 1932  to the late Jesse and Myrtle Daughtery White.  Mrs. Godsey  was a member of the New Liberty Missionary Baptist Church,  retired factory worker and volunteered for the Gilstrap Community Center. Violet loved taking care of children and cooking for her family and friends.    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rex Godsey, two brothers Charles L. and Dewell White.

Jerry Phelps

Jerry Phelps, 59 of Hartford, Ky. passed away Monday March 16, 2015 at his residence. Jerry was born March 13, 1956 in Madisonville, Ky. to the late Allen and Lotte Phelps Phelps. He is preceded in death by two sisters Glenda Martin and Peggy Hicks.
Jerry Phelps is survived by his friend and companion of 25 years James Darryl Rogers of Hartford, Ky.; 4 sisters; Cherietta Woolever, Sue Gribble, Kathy Jolly and Sandra Williams; 4 brothers Eldridge Allen Phelps, Terry Phelps, Tony Phelps and Travis Phelps and several nieces and nephews.

James Askew

James Lloyd Askew, 88, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Monday, March 9, 2015 at   Woodcrest at Blakeford in Nashville, Tn. He was born in Morgantown, Ky. on  August  24, 1926  to the late Joe and Mae Askew.  Mr. Askew was an electrician (school/training in Chicago) who wired many Butler Co. homes in the late 40's -60's. He preached at several Church of Christ congregations over the years.  He also sold insurance and marketing material  He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Lloyd Askew and one sister Ruth Askew Fuller.
