Mrs. Simmons and her 1st grade class at Morgantown Elementary School spread Christmas cheer to the community.  The class walked to town and sang Christmas Carols at the Butler County Board of Education, PBI Bank, and WRECC.  The class sang songs in German and English.  

Sunday the kids at Monticello Baptist Church performed a Christmas cantata complete with songs and speaking parts.  Joy Wells and Nathan Johnson worked with the kids for weeks.  Everyone in the congregation enjoyed the kids' performance.

Friday evening December 2, Rochester held its 1st annual Community Christmas party at the Rochester Community Building.  A large crowd of at least 50 filled the building for the festivities.  To begin, they all gathered outside for the lighting of the Christmas tree.  The group returned inside where, after an invocation given by Eddie Johnson, everyone feasted on chili, various soups, sandwiches, and desserts.  There was a crockpot of soup, seemingly, for everyone in attendance.

The family of Lucille Fredrick would like to thank all of our family, friends and churches for their support during our loss.  We want to give a special thanks to Hospice of Southern KY staff for the care they gave during her stay.  Also, we would like to thank Bro. Jeremy Brooks for the message that was spoken.  We know she is in heaven now but the love and strength that she showed during her time with us will always be missed.

Louisville, KY (December 2, 2011) – Recognized for the achievements of its Young Farm Program this year, Butler County Farm Bureau received the 2011 Gold Star Award of Excellence during Kentucky Farm Bureau’s annual meeting in Louisville. The award honors a county’s Young Farmer Committee for its active participation in Farm Bureau leadership development programs, state competitions, and educational or promotional initiatives. With more than 500,000 member families statewide, Kentucky Farm Bureau is the state’s largest farm organization.

Louisville, KY (December 3, 2011) – Katherine Rice and Taya Strasburger were among the 11 students selected from across the state to display their agriculture science projects at this week’s Kentucky Farm Bureau annual meeting in Louisville.
 Rice, a seventh grade student, and Strasburger, a sixth grade student, are both from Morgantown. Their project examined the feed and water consumption of chickens in a project titled: “Lifecycle of a commercially grown chicken.”

During the week of December 5th – 8th, members of the Butler County ATC HOSA club will be celebrating National HOSA Week. HOSA is a national student organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education Division of ACTE.
