4-H Project Show ‘Craft Days’ Camp – June 25-29

The Butler County 4-H Project Show ‘Craft Days’ Camp will be June 25-29 at the Butler County Extension Service from 9 a.m.—3 p.m.  We will have many projects available including:  woodworking, needle stitching, cooking, nature crafts, photography, painting, and much, much more. 

This will be an EXCELLENT opportunity to make a project for the Butler County 4-H Project Show held during the Catfish Festival!  All ribbon winners in the 4-H Project Show win COLD, HARD CASH and get to show at their project at the Kentucky State Fair in August.

Summer fun at the Butler County Public Library

Summer is shaping up to be a busy time at the Butler County Public Library with several free family programs on the schedule.

  - Thursday June 7th  1 p.m.   Movie Day

  - June 22nd      1 p.m.  Live Animals @ Your Library

  - June 25th       1 p.m.  Comedy/Magic Show

Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency in Cats

Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) are both caused by Retroviruses.  Both viruses cause permanent infections that cause suppression of the immune system.  Both viruses are seen commonly in the cat population.

There’s Still Time to Plan for 4-H Camp

Once again, it=s time for 4-H Camp, and if you haven’t gotten your application in, now is the time to do so!!  Last year, over 100 youth and adults from Butler County attended 4-H Camp at Dawson Springs.  Our camping dates this year are July 16 - July 20, 2012 and we still have spots remaining.

Butler County Conservation Fish Fry

It is time again for the Butler County Conservation Fish Fry.  It will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 5:00pm. the Conservation Club is in the Leonard Oak Community.  You are asked to bring a covered dish.  Everyone is welcome to come. So, come on and have a good time and enjoy a lot of good food and fellowship.  You may want to bring a lawn chair.  For more information call 532-1039 or 526-3809.

BCHS students place in KHSJA State Broadcasting Awards

Emily Rich and Kelsey Jenkins

Students in the Butler County High School broadcast journalism class recently competed in the State Broadcasting Awards sponsored by the Kentucky High School Journalism Association. Students from 36 schools competed by class in broadcast journalism, newspaper, and yearbook; Butler County competed against other schools in the Class A division. Butler County placed first in Newscast and third in General Excellence in the Broadcast category.

Congratulations Hannah McClelland

Hannah McClelland, a student at Butler County Middle School, received state recognition for her performance in the 7th grade talent search. Duke University invites 7th graders who have qualifying scores on standardized tests in elementary or middle school to take either the SAT or ACT. Students who perform at or above the national average of juniors or seniors are recognized at a state recognition ceremony.
