A Thank You from the Butler County FRYSC

The Butler County Family Resource and Youth Services Centers would like to thank everyone that played a part in providing “Butler County Christmas Toys for Tots” for children in Butler County. It is amazing how this small county cares and gives so much. To everyone that sorted toys, wrapped a gift, shopped, helped carry gifts, gave money, dropped a toy in our “Toys for Tots” boxes, brought us toys, adopted a family, helped with parking and crowd control, donated food baskets, or just provided moral support; we truly do appreciate you.

Christmas at Andrea's Mission

Approximately 12 ladies of Cool Springs Church came on November 30th and decorated the whole house including bringing a Christmas tree and decorating it with the ladies. They also made six different kinds of confections, cookies and snacks with the girls, teaching them how to bake these items.  They baked six plastic tubs of goodies that they left there for the ladies to enjoy over the holidays.

Christmas in Auburn

Saturday December 17, a group from Monticello Baptist Church journeyed to Federal Grove in Auburn, KY for a Christmas dinner.  For those who have never been, Federal Grove is a sit-down style family dinner atmosphere.  There was fried chicken and chicken and dressing as main courses, broccoli salad, mashed potatoes, green beans in abundance.  For dessert, we had a choice between cobbler and chocolate fudge pie (I quickly latched onto the chocolate fudge pie!).

A little more than 20 attended this Christmas celebration complete with plenty of food, friends and fun.

MES Students Give to Area Foster Children

The students of Ms. Katrina Graham's class

The children in Ms. Katrina Graham's class decided not to buy gift for each other but buy gloves and toboggans for the foster children in Butler County. Ms. Graham was a foster/adoptive parent for Butler County several years ago and she is very familiar with the needs the children have. The Department for Community Based Services is very thankful to have teachers and students like this that sees the importance of giving to others instead of receiving. Our community is blessed to have people like this class. Butler County also needs more foster/adoptive parents.
