Embry-Pharris to Wed

Kenneth and Cindy Embry of Morgantown, KY would like to announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter Audrey Embry of Morgantown to Jordan Pharris of Little Bend. Jordan is the son of Freddy and Kathy Pharris of Little Bend.

The wedding will be held Saturday, December 17th, 2011 at 6:00pm. The service will be held at Belmont Baptist Church with the reception following immediately afterwards in the church’s gymnasium. All friends and family are welcome to come and share this special day with the couple!

BCMS STLP Advances to State Competition

Boys & Girls Club News

Hello everyone, we have been so busy here at the Boys & Girl Club of Butler County. Besides doing homework each day we have been working on our ornaments for Festival of Trees so we won't give you a sneak peek but what would Thanksgiving be without sharing. So the Boys & Girls Club of Butler County took a trip to the Boys & Girls Club of Franklin-Simpson for a joint Thanksgiving Dinner and Holiday Play day. Check out the pictures and see if you can spot our kids. We even did a tug of war and a fun holiday craft.

Thanksgiving Dinner @ MES

Students, staff and families gathered at Morgantown Elementary for their Annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Friday, November 18th.   All parents and grandparents  seemed to enjoy not only the traditional turkey and dressing but the time spent with their students.  This is the biggest serving day for the MES cafeteria staff who prepared and served over 1042 Thanksgiving lunches.  Great job ladies at MES cafeteria!

Green River DAR Open Lighted Courthouse Display

Casey Porter finishes work on a snowman for display.

Members of the Green River DAR worked through-out Saturday morning installing this year’s lighted Christmas display, an annual wonderland all about the front courthouse lawn. Workers included Christine Coleman, Betty Brown, Casey Porter, Joyce Creager and Levi Johnson. “This is our sixth year of placing the display,” said Coleman. “We started in 2006.”

Smith Funeral Home Plans Benefit to Help St. Jude's

Smith Funeral Home and Simply You Photography are having a fundraiser to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital on Sunday, December. 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  You will get a copyright picture CD with five pics minimum for $25.  No appointment is necessary and limit ONE outfit.  All proceeds will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Barren River's Silver Bells Project Underway

The Barren River Long Term Care Ombudsman is hosting the third annual “Silver Bells Project” during this Christmas Holiday. The project is looking for sponsors to provide holiday gifts to residents living in 4 different Personal Care Homes. The majority of residents do not family living close by and are often overlooked by other community programs hosting holiday gift giving.
