Sunday October 30 was Monticello Baptist Church’s first Bible-themed costume party. Pictured above is Adrian Loy-Goliath, Ethan Loy-David, Tim and Tina Loy-Mom and Dad.  All who attended were encouraged to dress up as their favorite character from the Bible.  Samson and Delilah were in attendance, as were Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus, a wild pig, a Judge, the Woman at the Well, and many other Bible characters.  There were contests for best, funniest and most creative costumes.  

Easton Weather was the lucky winner of Beech Tree New's Fan of the Month for September.  Daily winnners were drawn from BTN's over 2,300 Facebook fans.  Each daily winner is put into a random drawing  for "Fan of the Month," which was won by Weathers for September.  Daily winners get a free 2 liter RC product (RC or Sundrop). The monthy winner gets a $50 gift certificate to the local business of their choice.  Weathers chose Hood's Market and plans to purchase fuel. 

Calendar Girl is Saturday, November 5 at 7:00 in the BCHS Gym.  Admission is $5.  There are 51 girls competing for the 13 Calendar Girl spots; there will also be a centerfold competition.  This event is sponsored by FCCLA.

The ghouls and goblins were out in force in Morgantown on Monday afternoon celebrating Halloween. The Beech Tree Media family passed out candy in front of our Morgantown office, located at 107 W. Ohio St, passing out candy and snapping photos of our trick-or-treaters. In addition to the candy and photos, several trick-or-treaters had the opportunity to speak to our radio listeners about their costumes and their favorite radio station (Beech Tree Radio of course!). We would like to thank all of our fans who stopped by to see our office and to pick up some candy.

By: Greg Drake II, County Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources:The Butler County Rural Development will have its annual meeting on Saturday, November 5th at 6:00 p.m. at the Butler County Extension Office.  

The annual meeting is the highlight of the association’s year.  There will be a meal provided by the clubs, entertainment, a short business meeting, the presentation of the outstanding club award, and door prizes.  There is no charge for attending and everyone is welcome to help Rural Development celebrate 54 years of success in Butler County.

The first step toward the creation of an Anti-Drug Coalition in Butler County took place on October 25th.  A community meeting was held at the Butler County Educational Complex and around forty interested individuals attended.  
Butler County received a drug free community mentoring federal grant worth $75,000 a year for two years to build a community coalition. The grant was the only one given in Kentucky and one of only twenty grants in the USA.   

The Butler County 4-H Silver Spurs Horse Club hosted an open fun show at the Logan County Saddle Club on Saturday, October 15th to help raise funds for the upcoming 4H year.  Despite the cool weather, a good crowd turned out and 125 entries were recorded.  

Morgantown Elementary School has been participating in the national Red Ribbon campaign at MES for several years.  Red Ribbon Month is a national campaign to create a drug-free community.  It encourages education, awareness, and a unified commitment toward a drug-free America.  During the month, students are taught the dangers of using tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs.  They are taught how they can find their own “Natural High” – an activity, sport, or art form that they enjoy.  The culminating event is a Red Ribbon Parade around the school.

“We’re a student lead national organization that focuses on the family,” said Kimberlea Embry, sponsor of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) at the high school. “It’s one of our community service projects. Hopefully, it will save someone’s life,” Embry added. By 10 A.M. students reported they had commitments from 65 students, faculty and staff.
