MS FOOTBALL: Bears battle Cougars; 7th wins, 8th falls short

One thing that remains consistent with Butler County football, no matter the age, is the support the county shows. The stands were packed on Tuesday, September 17,  as the Butler County Middle School Bears faced the McLean County Middle School Cougars.

Bears lose to Hart County in district opener

MORGANTOWN — Butler County couldn't overcome an early deficit as Hart County won 50-15 in a Class 3A, District 2 game on Friday, Sept. 20.

The Bears hosted the Raiders for a Class 3A, District 2 opener.

Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in Class 3A, District 2. 

Hart County moved to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in Class 3A, District 2 after registering the win.

The Butler County High School Girls Soccer team honored their seniors prior to their Thursday night game.

Bailey Moore is the daughter of Kyle and Kim Moore of Morgantown.

Larkin O'Connell is the daughter of Brandy O'Connell and the granddaughter of Darla Mueller.

Lady Bears fall to Allen County-Scottsville

SCOTTSVILLE — Butler County was limited offensively as Allen County-Scottsville pulled away to win 2-0 in a non-district high school volleyball match on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Alllen County-Scottsville won 25-5, 25-12. 

Following the loss, Butler County dropped to 1-12.

Let's look back at BCHS Football history. The following is a recall of its beginning. Butler County High School opened its doors in the 1953-54. 

Butler County High School Football's first season was the 1966-67 school year, a significant milestone in history. The 1966 first football team, a group of pioneers, was led by head coach Jim Meyers. 

As we fast-forward to the 2024 football season, we celebrate a remarkable milestone-the 59th season of BCHS football. This rich tradition is carried forward by first-year head coach Joshua Robins, who leads the 2024 team.

Bears fall to Mustangs in home match 

MORGANTOWN — Butler County found the net on multiple possessions but couldn't limit its opponent as Muhlenberg County pulled away to win 5-2 in a boys' high school soccer match on Monday, Sept. 16.

Following the loss, Butler County fell to 5-6-1.

After registering the win, Muhlenberg County improved to 5-5-1. 

The Bears and Mustangs compete in bordering districts. 

Lincoln Drury scored four goals to lead Muhlenberg County to the win.

Butler County doubles up Edmonson County 4-2

 

MORGANTOWN — Butler County doubled up Edmonson County 4-2 in an 11th District girls' soccer match on Thursday, Sept. 12. 

Determined Butler County notched its first win in the 2024 girls' high school soccer season. 

Loree Davidson scored two goals to lead Butler County to the district win.

Accompanying Davidson in Butler County's scoring column, Amadaleen Cruz and Bailey Moore netted one goal apiece.
