Butler County doubles up Edmonson County 4-2

 

MORGANTOWN — Butler County doubled up Edmonson County 4-2 in an 11th District girls' soccer match on Thursday, Sept. 12. 

Determined Butler County notched its first win in the 2024 girls' high school soccer season. 

Loree Davidson scored two goals to lead Butler County to the district win.

Accompanying Davidson in Butler County's scoring column, Amadaleen Cruz and Bailey Moore netted one goal apiece.

Aiding Butler County offensively, Virginia White dealt out two assists and Trinity Givens distributed one assist.

Defensively for Butler County, goalkeeper Larkin O'Connell limited Edmonson County to two goals and recorded 10 saves. 

 

Butler County, McLean County battle to 7-7 tie 

CALHOUN — Butler County and McLean County battled to a 7-7 tie in a girls' high school soccer match on Thursday, Sept. 5.

Region 3 rivals, Butler County and McLean County compete in bordering districts. 

Loree Davidson scored four goals to lead the Lady Bears.

Accompanying Davidson in Butler County's scoring column, Bailey Moore netted three goals and distributed one assist.   

Defensively for Butler County, goalkeeper Larkin O'Connell recorded 13 saves in the non-district match. 

 

Lady Bears fall to Warren Central in home match 

MORGANTOWN — Butler County scored a season-high number of goals, but it wasn't enough as Warren Central pulled away to win 11-5 in a girls' high school soccer match on Monday, Aug. 26. 

With the loss, Butler County slipped to 0-5. 

Warren Central improved to 1-4 after registering the win. 

Naila Velic scored seven goals and dished out one assist to lead Warren Central to the win.

Along with Velic, Warren Central's offensive attack included Zoe Resch (two goals), Janelle Carvajal-Juarez (one goal, one assist) and Nishobora Josephine (one goal, one assist).

Goalkeeper Nejra Topalovic paced Warren Central defensively, tallying three saves. 

Loree Davidson scored three goals to lead the Lady Bears. Joining Davidson in Butler County's scoring column, Bailey Moore and Trinity Givens netted one goal apiece. In addition to finding the net, Moore dealt out one assist for the Lady Bears. 

Defensively for Butler County, goalkeeper Larkin O'Connell recorded 12 saves.
