Special Called Fiscal Court Meeting

The Butler County Fiscal Court met in special session on Thursday, December 27, 2012.  Johnny Tuck, David Whittinghill, Chad Tyree, Keith Daugherty , Stevie Givens, and Judge David Fields were in attendance. 
The court approved the following motions with a 5-0 vote:
•    Motion was made by Whittinghill and seconded by Tuck authorizing Judge Fields to sign an emergency management executive order effective January 1, 2013.

Operation Scrooge Drug Round-Up

Wednesday morning at 7:00 AM teams of officers from the ATF, Bowling Green Police, Kentucky State Police, Warren County Sheriff’s Department and Western Kentucky University Police set out to arrest 23 individuals. These 23 individuals are charged with 60 various felony drug trafficking crimes.

The aforementioned charges are a result of undercover investigations conducted over a 6-month period by the Bowling Green – Warren County Drug Task Force.

Meth bust on Russellville Road, 14+ grams confiscated: two arrested

What started with the intention of serving an outstanding warrant has resulted in the arrest of two individuals on methamphetamine-related charges.  

Earlier this afternoon, Butler County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Heath West and Deputies Chris Reneer, Joe Alford, Justin Deweese, and Travis McIntosh responded to a residence on 2423 Russellville Road owned by Bobbie Lee Forbes, 52, of Morgantown.

Butler County ATC Student of the Month-November

Butler County Area Technical Center has selected (5) students to represent each class for the month of November. Each of these students displays leadership qualities that made them eligible for this award. Congratulations to each one.

Jones Funeral Chapel announces CT Trust Fund

After the horrific event on Friday December 14, 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut the Jones Family and staff of Jones Funeral Chapel feels compelled to help the families that were affected by this event and will be making a donation to the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association in which they will distribute monies to the funeral homes and families that have been affected. Although we are donating, we are not asking for donations.  We are giving an opportunity for you to give if you feel compelled to do so.

Grand Jury Indictments

The Butler County Grand Jury returned indictments against 21 individuals on December 11th, 2012. Charges include drug trafficking, burglary, abuse of public trust, and attempted murder.

Toys For Tots Serves 392 Butler County Children

The Butler County Family Resource, the Youth Services Centers, and the Morgantown Mission teamed up for Butler County Christmas Toys for Tots on Friday.  Volunteers came out in full force to help sort toys, wrap gifts, help carry packages, park cars, hand out numbers, and help families shop for gifts.

Ribbon Cutting Held For The Antique Shop

On Friday December 14, the Boys & Girls Club held  a ribbon cutting at the  Antique Shop located at 6302 Bowling Green Road.  The event was scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM and many notable figures and politicians were present. An array of home made chocolate, cookies, divinity candy, and eggnog was served.

City Council: Roads, Insurance,Website and Swearing In of New Council

Allen Meredith and Dionne Meritt take the oath of office.

The final Morgantown City Council meeting of the year addressed state roadways in city limits, city insurance, the proposed city mural and website projects, and the swearing in of new Council members.
