Butler Co. Circuit Clerk’s Office launches new Organ Donor Heart on License

Starting Jan. 23, 2013, you can add a symbol that stands for hope and generosity on something you carry with you everywhere: your driver’s license.  Like Indiana, Ohio and several other states, Kentuckians will soon have the option to have an organ donor heart printed on their license.

County Road Supervisor Timmy West is also the new Solid Waste Officer for the county

Monday was the second Monday of January, meaning the Butler County Fiscal Court was in session for their regular meeting. All magistrates, Judge-Executive David Fields, County Attorney Richard Deye, Road Supervisor Timmy West, and a handful of visitors were present.

Concealed Carry Class: Enrollment Grows

Are people worried about their safety and changes in gun laws?  Many would think so if they attended the local Concealed Carry Course on Saturday, January 12th. 
“This is the largest class I have ever had,” said Bobby McKee, Instructor for the Concealed Carry Class.
The packed class, 19 of which were women, took the eight hour class at the Butler County Extension Office and D& G Shooting Range.

City streets were the dominant topic of the Morgantown City Council meeting Thursday night, with a change enacted in several streets’ speed limits and discussion but no action on taking state roadways over.

2013 Legislative Session Focuses on Many Issues Affecting Kentucky

With the holiday season behind us, the General Assembly returned to Frankfort this week to prepare to deal with several crucial issues facing our Commonwealth.

The first task of the 2013 Legislative Session was to elect leadership for our respective caucuses, receive committee assignments and essentially get our footing as we get ready for the work ahead of us.  It’s also a time of transition as we welcome new members to our ranks as they get prepare for their first legislative session.

Want to Help Keep Your Community Clean? Adopt a Highway!

Since 1988, Kentucky has been participating in the International Adopt-A-Highway Program and we are fortunate to have over 800 Adopt-A-Highway groups in the state working on over 5,100 miles of road. The participants in Butler County include: Cargill-Sugar Grove Farm, Aleris Recycling and Provo Rural Development Club. This program provides the opportunity to get involved in the community and show others how important a clean environment is to you, your community, and your state.

Meth Lab Located In Vehicle At Huff Ingram

Earl Wayne Doston (DOB 5/30/82) of 37 Big Oak Drive, Morgantown, Kentucky, was arrested shortly after 10:30 am this morning at Huff Ingram Apartment 803, and charged with unlawful possession of meth precursor, second offense, and manufacturing methamphetamine , first offense. Doston is not a resident of Huff Ingram.

Board members sworn in; students recognized

Swearing in of school board members Karen Evans, Debbie Hammers, and Charles Price.

The Butler County Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, January 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Butler County Education Complex.  Board members Karen Evans, Debbie Hammers, and Charles Price were administered the oath of office by David Tralbue. January is Board Appreciation Month and board members were presented gifts of appreciation from each of the schools in the district. Superintendent Scott Howard thanked the board for their service.
“Students are always the priority with this board,” said Howard.

Two Vehicle Accident on William Natcher Parkway

Shortly after 9 A.M, a two vehicle collision occurred on the William H. Natcher Parkway near the Cool Springs overpass. A dump truck belonging to Howard Trucking of Calhoun, Kentucky was hauling a load of gravel Northbound when contact was made with a Chevrolet Avalanche, resulting in the dump truck overturning off the road. The driver of the dump truck was transported to the Medical Center in Bowling Green to be treated for unknown injuries. The driver of the Avalanche was not transported,  injuries are unknown.
