Embry Files Bill to Designate Parkway as ‘Medal of Honor Recipient Trail

Designation on Natcher Parkway in honor of Medal of Honor Winners from Butler, Ohio Counties-Representative C.B. Embry, Jr., R-Morgantown (17th District) announced today he has filed a bill that if signed into law would designation the William Natcher Parkway in Butler and Ohio Counties as the ‘Medal of Honor Recipient Trail’ in honor of two Congressional Medal of Honor winners from those counties.

Graves Gilbert Clinic Welcomes Dr. Chhabra to Morgantown

The old saying goes, “when one door closes another one opens.” That is certainly the case with the retirement of Dr. Richard T.C. Wan and the closing of Wan’s Medical Clinic. While Dr. Wan has closed his doors, Graves Gilbert Clinic has taken over operations of the clinic, and with that Morgantown has a new physician.

Dr. Shalini Chhabra is now practicing at the Graves Gilbert Clinic Morgantown Campus, formerly Wan’s Medical Clinic. Chhabra comes to Morgantown after a two-and-a-half year stint practicing medicine at Graves Gilbert in Bowling Green.

Fatal fire on Newton Road claims life, destroys home

120 Newton Road

A house fire in the Logansport community early Thursday morning, January 9, has claimed the life of Morgan Bentley “Bo” Phelps, II, 18, of Morgantown.  Shortly after 6:00 a.m. firemen were dispatched to 120 Newton Road to the home of Gerald and Janice Phelps (Bo's grandparents).  The home was a complete loss.  The Phelps's were transported to the Medical Center at Bowling Green for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Bo's father, Morgan Phelps I, was also home at the time of the fire.

Rep. C.B. Embry, Jr. Files Proposal to Provide Tax Credit to Volunteer Firefighters

Proposal will provide credit on tax return starting in 2015-Representative C.B. Embry, Jr., R-Morgantown (17th District) announced today he is sponsoring legislation for the 2014 Regular Session that if passed would provide a tax credit to any certified volunteer firefighter in Kentucky.  The bill is also co-sponsored by Rep. Michael Meredith, R-Brownsville (19th District).

Fire destroys building on Bowling Green Road

An early-morning fire at 4542 Bowling Green Road in south Butler County has destroyed a house connected to a garage.  The property, owned by Dallas Pendley, is the site of the former Pendley Trucking building.  The call came into dispatch at approximately 5:45 a.m.  The house was being used as an office so nobody was in the building at the time of the fire.

2014 Regular Session of the Kentucky General Assembly Starts Work Today

Drafting a new budget for Commonwealth main focus of 60-day session-  With the drop of the gavel in the Kentucky House of Representatives, the 2014 Regular Session of the Kentucky General Assembly began today in Frankfort.  The primary focus of this year’s legislative session, which will run 60 days, will be to pass a new two-year budget for the Commonwealth.

Butler County Coroner’s 2013 Year -End Review

In 2013 there were 26 coroner calls made by the Butler County Coroner’s office and 14 provisional of death reports signed for cremations to be done.
Of the 26 calls made:
 22 were ruled natural deaths
14 provisional of deaths signed for cremation
4 ruled accidental deaths- of those, 1 vehicle fatalities (1 driver and 0 passengers), 2 accidential overdose deaths, and 1 accidental only
In 2012 there were 35 calls made and 10 provisional of deaths signed for cremation. 
23 ruled natural
4 ruled suicide
5 ruled accidental overdoses
