Last Day of School May 30th

The Butler County Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, February 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Butler County Education Complex. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Karen Evans and the agenda was approved along with the minutes of the January 14, meeting.
Make-up days were discussed by the board.  According to Superintendent Scott Howard if no more days are missed school will be out May 30, 2014.

Water Leak Fixed

If you live in Morgantown, you were without water for a short time on Saturday morning according to Randall Gaskey, Superintendent of Morgantown Utilities.  A major leak was discovered around 3:00am on the corner of Roberts and Hobson Street next to the Morgantown Water Treatment Plant.

Welcome Graves Gilbert Clinic

Graves Gilbert Clinic has taken over operations of the Wan Clinic, and with that the new signs went up today. 

Dr. Shalini Chhabra is now practicing at the Graves Gilbert Clinic Morgantown Campus. Chhabra comes to Morgantown after a two-and-a-half year stint practicing medicine at Graves Gilbert in Bowling Green.

UPDATED: Sinkhole Corvette restorations to be overseen by General Motors-Announced at a press conference Thursday that was held at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky is that General Motors has stepped up to oversee the restoration of the eight Corvettes that are still trapped in the sinkhole at the Museum.

Fiscal Court: County Clerk's Settlement $158,576.79, Roads, and Incubator Program

County Clerk Shirley E. Givens presents the Fiscal Court with a check for  $158,576.79.

Monday night, February 10th, marked the regular meeting night for the Butler County Fiscal Court. All members were present along with a handful of visitors who braved bitter cold temperatures to attend the meeting.

Justin Young, from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in Bowling Green addressed the Court concerning Rural Secondary Road Funds for the upcoming fiscal year. Young told the Court that the county will receive $1,563,741 in total funding.

Fire destroys home on Mooretown Road

An early-morning fire has destroyed a home at 1547 Mooretown Road in Butler County.  Local firefighters were dispatched to scene shortly after 2:30 a.m. Monday morning.  

According to a Beech Tree News reporter at the scene, the owner of the residence, James McCoy, was awakened by his son telling him that the house was on fire.  McCoy, his son, and two dogs made it out of the house but the cat wasn't so lucky.
