2012 Christmas Parade

One of the largest Christmas parades was held on Saturday. The streets were lined three to four people deep all along the parade route. Children went home with their sack full of candy and Santa came to Morgantown. Parade Winners were:

Church Floats: 1st place Morgantown Church of Christ, 2nd White Ridge Church, 3rd Cornerstone Church

Business Floats: 1st Blackhawk Composites, 2nd Morgantown Bank & Trust, 3rd Country Fine Swine

Non-Profit Floats: 1st Boy Scouts Pack 208, 2nd Butler County Girl Scouts, 3rd Butler County FFA

Single-car crash on Natcher

A single-vehicle accident took place earlier today and may have been caused by slick road conditions.  According to sources, a car collided with a tractor trailer in the southbound lane on the William Natcher Parkway near the Cool Springs bridge overpass in Butler County. No injuries were reported. Responding agencies included the Butler County Sheriff's Department, Butler County EMS and Rescue Squad. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

Dinner Kicks Off 2012 Festival of Trees

“We try to get people together as a community. One of the most thrilling things that happens is the festival of trees. The people who come here are really in the spirit of Christmas when they come in here and set up these trees for your pleasure.”  Those were the words of Geoffrey Henderson, Butler County Education Preservation Society President as he kicked off the 2012 Festival of trees dinner Friday night at the Cousin Don building on the square in Morgantown.

Martin Relected Vice-Chairman of KY Registry of Election Finance

At its November 28, 2012 meeting, the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance unanimously re-elected Craig C. Dilger to serve as its Chairman, marking an unprecedented sixth consecutive term for the Louisville attorney.
Registry member David R. Martin was re-elected as Vice-Chairman.  Martin was elected to serve five (5) terms as Butler County Judge Executive, and then retired to accept the position of Executive Director of the Kentucky County Judge Executives Association, serving from 2000 to 2003 in that capacity.

Attempted Robbery Spoiled by Customer

The hammer and club used to beat Peter Patel at Jumping Jack's.

UPDATE: Peter Patel, the injuried clerk, is home from the hospital and recovering. He is expected to return to work soon.

Shortly after midnight Travis Price went into Jumping Jack’s, located at 2350 Bowling Green Road, to get something to drink and apparently spoiled an attempted robbery. Finding nobody at the counter and sounds of a fight coming from the office, Price went to investigate.

Single-vehicle accident on Brownsville Rd. sends one to hospital

A Butler County woman was sent to the hospital for treatment following a single-vehicle accident. Nicole Green, of Morgantown, was traveling on KY 70 Brownsville Road when she lost control of her 2002 Ford F-150 pick-up causing the truck to flip. She was transported by Butler County EMS to the Medical Center at Bowling Green for the treatment of her injuries. Green is charged with failure to provide proof of insurance, driving with expired tags, and driving with an expired operators license.

Fire @ 3313 Logansport Road

Around 8:00 am emergency personnel was dispatched to 3313 Logansport Road in response to smoke coming from a home.  According to the Butler County tax roll the home belongs to Linda Embry.  The fire was contained to one room and the home sustained smoke damage.  Nobody was at home at the time of the fire. Responding was: Butler County EMS, Morgantown, Second District, and Rochester Volunteer Fire Departments.

Fire At 185 Threlkel Cemetery Road

Shortly after 7:00pm on Saturday evening, Morgantown Volunteer Fire Department, Fifth District Volunteer Fire Department, and Fourth District Volunteer Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire at 185 Threlkel Cemetery Road.  Upon arriving, firemen found the two story house fully engulfed.  The house was vacant and a total loss. According to the Butler County tax roll the property owner is listed as Dale Phelps.
