Cody Alan Smith

Cody Alan Smith "Wody" 24 of Roundhill, Ky. passed away Friday, May 6, 2016, in Butler County Kentucky as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born on Monday, July 29, 1991, to Alan Smith and Wendy White, who survives. He was an operator at ARC Automotives in Morgantown, Ky. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, spending time with his wife, boys, family, and friends.

Steve Merideth

Steve Merideth, 48, of  Morgantown passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at his residence.  He was born in Warren Co. on May 14, 1967.  Steve was a former truck driver for B&J Sanitation, a farmer, a member of Hillvue Heights Baptist Church and a proud supporter of 4-H, FFA and the Extension Service.  He served on the boards of 4-H, Extension Service, Butler Co. Young Farmers, Butler Co. Stockman's Association and the Butler County Engine and Tractor Club.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents Henry R.

Ernest "Buster" Childress

Ernest "Buster" Childress, 85, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital. He was born in Butler County, Kentucky on December 15, 1930, to the late Bloomer and Dovie Childress. He was retired from Shamrock Construction as a truck driver for over twenty years.

Volley Doris Keown

Volley Doris Keown, 73 of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky. Doris was born on Saturday, August 1, 1942, to the late William Volley and Ruby West Keown. He was a member of Leonard Oak General Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonel and retired from the Kentucky Dept. of Transportation. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by one sister Barbara Hatcher, two brother-in-laws Jerry Hatcher and Donald Hopkins and one great nephew Austin Hope.

Nina W. Woosley

Nina W. Woosley, 93, of Caneyville, passed away Wednesday, May 4th, 2016 at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. 

She was born on Tuesday, July 4th, 1922 in Grayson County, the daughter of the late Allie and Ida (Minton) Woosley. She was a lifetime member of the Caneyville Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was baptized in 1952. Nina and her late husband owned and operated the A.T. Woosley General Store in Caneyville from the 1930’s until 1976. She loved visiting with people and receiving cards. She enjoyed working in the yard and reading.

Freddie C. Embry, 95 of Beaver Dam, Ky. passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the Ohio County Hospital in Hartford, Ky. Freddie was born on Monday, July 19, 1920, to the late Lannie and Lela Bryant Embry and husband of the late Ruby Mae Lacefield Embry. He was a World War II Army Veteran, a member of New Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and retired contractor. Other than his parents and wife he is preceded in death by four brothers Talford, Claude, Herbert and Chelse Embry and two sisters Helen Brooks and Pearl Ashby

Betty Lee Farris Shuman

Betty Lee Farris Shuman, age 92, of Morgantown, KY departed this life on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, KY.  The Edmonson County native was the daughter of the late Andy Farris and Nellie Whobrey Farris.  She was married to Blair C. Shuman, who also preceded her in death.

She was a housewife, caring mother and grandmother and of the Baptist faith.

Robert Wayne “Bobby” Evans, 54, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016, at his home in Morgantown, Kentucky. Bobby was born July 22, 1961 to the late Mary Talmage “Toppie” Evans and Hugh Carroll Evans who survives. Affectionately known to friends and family as “Skillet,” he enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, gardening, and spending time with friends and family. Bobby was a member of Cool Springs General Baptist Church. 

Mickey Felty

Mickey Felty, 71 of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016, at her residence. Mickey was born on Sunday, December 31, 1944, in Cole County Illinois to the late James and Gradie Johnson Phelps. She was a member of Belmont General Baptist Church and retired from Foodland Grocery Store. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by one granddaughter Rebecca Felty and two sisters Jenell Joiner and Theresa Kendall.

Corine Staples, 89 of Hazel Kentucky formerly of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray Kentucky. Corine was born on May 6, 1926, in Butler County Kentucky to the late Aaron and Iva McCoy Belcher and wife of the late Bronie Staples. She was a homemaker and a member of Big Muddy Missionary Baptist Church. Other than her parents and husband she is preceded in death by one son Johnny Staples, one daughter Yevette Staples, eight brothers and three sisters.
