Tyree honored at KY School Counselor's meeting

Agricultural Development Funds Invested in 12 County Projects

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 18, 2013) - Today the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board (KADB), chaired by Governor Steve Beshear, approved $798,231 for 12 county agricultural diversification projects across the Commonwealth during its January board meeting at the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce headquarters.

Table Setting Contest at Kent Manor

Senior citizen care is facing many more concerns and obstacles on a daily basis in the United States. For the first time, elderly people that are disabled are more susceptible to poor quality care and lack of nutritious meals. Many seniors who live alone are unable to get groceries or cook their own meals, and must rely on home delivered meals in order to survive.

KY Business Meets with British Consul in Louisville

Consul General Chatterton Dickson opened the first-ever British Pop-Up Consulate in Louisville , joined with the World Affairs Council of Kentucky & Southern Indiana, on March 12, 2013. This unique opportunity was enjoyed by Butler County business, Heart to Heart Publishing ,Inc. owner Linda J. Hawkins and Vickie Fishburn, owner of Clark’s Landing Nursery.  They got to hear the Consul General's timely remarks on "Britain and America: Partners for Prosperity and Security".

Hatcher Celebrates I'd Rather Read Week

Drew Hatcher, age 7, son of Eric & Amanda Hatcher received first place at MES, March 7, 2013, for dressing in character of his favorite author and book. Alexander and the Great Berry Patch, written by his Great-Aunt Linda J. Hawkins. She also resides in Butler County. He dressed in a blueberry costume and shared the book. He won 25.00 to spend at the school’s book-fair. Drew and the other students that dressed for the event lead a parade, with the other student body enjoying the many books and dress-up time. It was all about CELEBRATING READING!

HOSA: National Bound

Butler County ATC is proud to announce that three of their students will be attending the National HOSA Leadership Conference in June of this year. HOSA is a club known as Health Occupation Students of America. It is designed for students who are interested in working in the healthcare field.

From March 6th – March 9th nine HOSA members traveled to Louisville, KY to compete in the HOSA Spring Leadership conference. Every student put forth tremendous effort and done a fabulous job.

Young Farmer Association New

On Tuesday, March 4th, the newly re-instated chapter of the Butler County Young Farmer Association met for the purpose of electing officers for 2013.  Following a potluck meal, Kent Moore of Crop Production Services & Loveland Products gave an excellent and informative presentation about plant health and nutrition as it pertains to row crops in our area.  Following the presentation and a question and answer session, Chapter Advisor Lance Lockhart called for the business of nominating and electing an officer team to begin.  Following

BCHS Band Concert and Confections

On the evening of Tuesday March 12 at 6:45 PM, the lights dimmed in the BCHS auditorium as the Butler County High School Band performed graceful musical feats of remarkable magnitude to inspire and awe the packed seating arena.

Phelps Named Teacher of the Year

Joshua Phelps, a 1996 graduate of Butler County High School, has recently been named Metcalf County's Teacher of the Year for the second year in a row. Phelps teaches Spanish. Joshua and his wife Deeann live in the Big Meadow area with their three children Emmie 6,Liberty 3, and newborn Laurie Daniela Grace. His family is very proud of him

BC Retired Teachers Recognizes Pedigo and Hall

The Butler County Retired Teachers held their monthly luncheon on Monday at the Butler County Educational Complex. Over 25 retired teachers and guests were in attendance.  The group honored two Butler County students for their accomplishments.
