9/11 Heroes Run

Come join us as we honor the fallen, by challenging the living at Bowling Green's 1st annual 9/11 Heroes Run, hosted by the WKU Student Veteran's Alliance and the Travis Manion Foundation.  9/11 Heroes Run will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012.  5K & Family One mile Run/Walk. Registration is available now at 911heroesrun.com.  The race will be held at Spero Kereiakes Park Trail at 1220 Fairview Ave., Bowling Green, Kentucky.5K race begins at 5:30 p.m. 50% of the proceeds will help the Pennyroyal Homeless Veterans Center.

BCMS Jr. Beta Needs Your Help: A Bench for Caps

UPDATE: Beech Tree News/WLBQ 1570 has teamed with BCMS in this project and will donate the $200 to the Jr. Beta Club to purchase the recycled bench. 

"We are excited about the project and know the students and staff will collect the 400 pounds of tops they need. We are proud to help in their effort,s" said John Embry, co-owner of Beech Tree News.

This month’s concert on the courthouse lawn Saturday night brought out lots of grinners who gave enthusiastic support to some of the best pickers around. Steve Day (Fiddle) and friends Randy Graham, guitar; Luke Munday, banjo and John Marcus on bass were crowd pleasers. A cricket on the courthouse lawn didn’t stand a chance with all the toe tapping going on.

Little Muddy Rural Development News

The Little Muddy RD Club met August 20th, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.  There were 16 people present.  Members arrived early so Program Leader Scott Keen could take them on a hayride around the community. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather and time of fellowship. The meeting began with Maggie Drake leading the club in the pledge to the American flag.  Greg Drake gave the blessing for the meal. After the meal, Vice President Danny Dye called the business meeting to order.

When Walls Do Talk: The Lindsey Locket

Who knew? Certainly no one did as a salvage crew carefully took an old house apart on Sanders road off 79 north, a while back. For starters, when the present owners had the old weather boarding removed, the logs underneath were found to be of hardwood.

Monticello Baptist Church Holds Revival

Monticello Baptist Church held their revival August 19 through the 22nd.  Bro. Ray Gililand brought the message every night and there was also special music.  It was a blessing for all who came.  Doug and Sharon Lindsey provided music.

Local State Fair Winners

Butler County was well represented in the rabbit  division of the Kentucky State Fair this year. A&B Rabbittry, Angel Wolf Rabbits, and Honey Bunny Farms competed in several categories.
