There will be a wedding shower for Meredith Trabue & Jon Stokes on  Sunday, August 26th from 2:00-4:00p.m. at the Butler County Education Complex.  The couple is registered at Heart Strings, Kohl's and Target.

On Highway 79, in the north of Butler County, there is a small wooded haven.  In that haven is a glass blower’s shop called Evolution Glass Works.  It is an unlikely location for an impressive artist, but there is where you will find him.  Bill Van Tassell turns out unique glass pieces in this out-of-the-way place.  The shop is fitted with equipment used in the craft, much of it built by Van Tassell himself, a maintenance technician by trade.

There will be a baby shower for Georgia Grace Harrison on August 26, 2012, at 2:00pm at Aberdeen Baptist Church Minstry Center.  Her parents Kaitlin and Marcus Harrison have registered at Pottery Barn Kids, Julia Christopher Photography, and Target.

The Butler County Public Library held their Story Hour Graduation recently. Story Hour participants entering head start, preschool, or kindergarten were recognized during the event and received a free book. The graduates were Lydia Brown, Marvin Brown, Grant Jones, Millie Cardwell, Zachary Gwathney, Madison Jones, Garrett Phelps, Tristan McClintock, Kayleigh Deweese, Lily Glass, Madison Baker, and Avery Gidcumb.

Butler County native, Navy Commander Bobby D. McPherson is serving aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Sunday morning August 5th, Monticello celebrated its annual homecoming.  Bro. Randy Burns gave a short welcome before introducing bluegrass-gospel group Higher Ground.  This marked the fifth consecutive year of the group performing at our homecoming. The church is 207 years old.

BCHS students Emily Rich and Kelsey Jenkins attended the Academy of Scholastic Broadcasting (ASB) Camp this past week in Kansas City, Missouri and produced award winning stories!

The camp is designed to teach students the basic elements of Broadcast Journalism. They learn to shoot, write, and edit video to tell a story. At this camp students not only receive instruction in the class room, but are also taken out into the field to get hands on experience and work on improving their skills. our students worked extremely hard during their four days in Kansas City.

A candlelight vigil was held on Saturday in memory of Jaclyn Daugherty at the Butler County High School football field. Friends, family, and community members joined together to honor her memory.
