Weight Watchers Meeting @BCMS Library

A 12-week Weight Watchers Program is starting soon.  An Information-Registration Meeting will be held in the library of Butler County Middle School on Thursday, February 28 at 3:30 p.m.  The meetings will be held on Thursdays at 3:30 in the BCMS library.  For more information, you may contact Paige McKinney at [email protected]

Enjoy a hearty 1880s menu typical of what would have been served at South Union’s famous railroad hotel, the Shaker Tavern.  The historic menu includes roast turkey and cranberries, baked macaroni and cheese, baked sweet potatoes, homemade apple sauce, breaded tomatoes, and walnut cake with whipped cream.

Kyle Whitaker: Not Out in the Sticks for Much Longer

On Saturday night, February 16, at 7:30 pm, SKYPAC in Bowling Green will feature the 2006 American Idol finalist, Bucky Covington.  His opening act will be Kyle Whitaker.

At the tender age of 26, Butler County native, Kyle Whitaker, is already a seasoned performer.  Of course, you’ll have to take into account that he started singing in front of an audience at the age of five.  His father, Jeff, served as guitar player for young Kyle as the five-year-old sang in local churches.  At fifteen, Kyle was part of Heaven Sent, a gospel quartet that toured in southern venues, and by age 22, he and four others (Joe Howe, Thomas Harris, Joe Pearl, and Cody Whitaker—Kyle’s brother) formed the group, High Country, a country music band that still performs locally and in t

Butler County Chapter NSDAR will host its monthly meeting on Thursday ,February 28 at 6:00 in the Butler County Public Library.At 7:00 after BCNSDAR meeting in celebration of Presidents Birthdays, Steve Fuller will be speaking on “Lincoln”.

NWTF Banquet

The National Wild Turkey Banquet will be held on Saturday, February 23 at the Mike Truelove Economic Complex Building.  The doors will open at 5:30 p.m and the meal will start at 7:00 p.m. This is the 40th year for NWTF!

BCMS Jr. Beta Collects 550 Pounds of Caps for Bench

Wanda Nevins collected 10 pounds of tops for her friend Evan Johnson.

The Butler County Middle School’s Junior Beta Club has collected over 550 pounds of plastic tops and will be getting their first recycled bench soon. Wanda Nevins, of Morgantown, has been saving plastic tops to help her friend, Evan Johnson. She surprised Evan at school on Monday and brought in ten pounds of tops.

Benefit Brings Community Together for One of Its Own

On Saturday evening, February 9th, Butler County High School was the site of a benefit concert and auction for Kenny Johnson, a Butler County resident who was diagnosed with cancer in September of last year.  The proceeds raised at Saturday evening’s event will help cover any medical bills incurred during treatment.

Support The BCHS Band

The Butler County Band Boosters would like to invite all to the BCHS band movie night concert. The concert will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 6:30 pm at Butler County High School. The band will be performing music to accompany clips from popular movies being shown in the background. Popcorn and snacks will be available for $2. Admission to this fun filled family event is free. Please come and support the band.
